I remember when now X Chief Randy Nickley from Columbia was working up there at Mi Wuk with Miller. This does't surprise me at all. That District needs to be cleaned up. The District was running a Duel logo with Twain Harte Fire on their engines. But it looks like the logo's have been removed. The District below Mi Wuk could use a little cleaning up too.
Now theres really no story here thats newsworthy if we dont know why he is on leave, now i'm just curious puzzled and irritated all at the same time.
I wonder if he was misusing the district funds like the Columbia guy was doing. I wonder why Mi Wuk and Twain Harte never brought a vote to their tax paying citizens to see if they even wanted a merge. Most folks I know in Twain Harte love their fire department and want nothing to do with Chief Miller's shenanigans.
Although I do not know when Mr. Nickley's affiliation with the Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District ended, I do know that he is not now affiliated with it.
The dual logo on Engine 775 is there because Chief Miller and Chief McNeal of the Twain Harte Fire Department entered into a mutually beneficial cooperative agreement that includes basing a Twain Harte FD engine at Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine (Engine 775), to be operated by Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine firefighters and respond to calls in both districts as a back up to each other. It is a mutually benefical arrangement involving both districts, hence the use of both district's logos on the fire engine.
Larry Crabtree, Interim Fire Chief
Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District
The two districts would have responded into each others jurisdictions without a merger. Tuolumne County relies heavily on automatic aid between the fire departments. Why does Twain Harte need another fire district that is several miles up the highway to respond for backup on EMS runs when the county is already paying Twain Harte CAL FiRE to provide services to the citizens in the county? It makes no sense as a citizen to cancel a fire station that is less than 1/8th of a mile away to calls and then request Mi Wuk and now wait for a delay to get to an emergency. Stop the politics and serve the people who live in our communities.
