oh yea, the funding they will lose will be the increases they've gotten each year since 2011, the Obama administration is fear mongering if anyone has really paid attention the sequestration will only save pennies on the thousand dollars against government borrowing..seems like the democrats want their children to be government slaves in the near future..all so they can get everything for themselfs NOW..
crmdgn   02/22/2013 11:44:40
Sequestration is a reduction in proposed increases, not a cut.

Scare us some more. This would not be the end of the world and could be revisited once our financial house is in order. Would it be a terrible thing if we just closed the park for a year or two and give it a rest. Environmentalist should agree with this proposal

They want funding....
Make it for profit. If they can't run a business, then sell it to someone who CAN. I don't like the idea of our tax money going to businesses that can't fight it's way out of a wet paper bag without bailouts.

If my math is correct this is like a 3% cut for the entire National Park Service which is a drop in a bucket. The only rangers that won't be hired (maybe for a month) is the part timers. Your right on the money DoubleD this is BS.
mcarden   02/22/2013 14:15:54
$112 million is less than 4% of their budget. If they can't save that from somewhere, they need new finance staff. This is truly a drop in the bucket.

DoubleD and crmdgn obviously know what is going on and, like me, will not believe the scare tactics of the obama administration. The problem is that there are those who will believe what is being spewed about sequestration and not the facts! I am exhausted with threats from this false president.
mountainman   02/22/2013 14:57:41
maybe they can sell some of all that brand new equipt they have?I dont think they need 20+ brand new back hoes ....really?I wish I had that problem!
gotchacovered   02/22/2013 16:23:03
dont they get enough funding from the twenty bucks price of admission they charge at the gate?
openeyes   02/22/2013 18:27:17
Lies, lies, lies... obummer wanted this sequestration. Let him have what he wants until he does his job by giving the congress a budget. He has gotten away with no budget for to long now its time for him to feel the hurt he has brought on himself. Now its time to have the finger pointing turned back at the pointer.

The govt spending it's way to poverty (oh! Prosperity) is fiscal child abuse.
Do you see what I mean?
We are abusing our future..and leaving the kids holding the bag.

Lock it up, and throw the key down a well. Let the park rest for an entire year with zero intrusions and get back to normal next year.
sonorabill   02/23/2013 02:53:23
As crowded as Yosemite is, you'd think they would make a profit.
WhoaMan   02/23/2013 09:18:48
That is inaccurate, crmgn. The sequestration cuts where designed to be such a bad idea, that congress and the president would have to work together. This won't just affect the parks. Less air traffic controllers, less meat inspectors, the EPA suspending cleanup of Superfund sites, these are not fear-mongering. These are consequences of a terrible plan, that was never supposed to happen in the first place. I agree that spending cuts are needed, but the sequester is just stupid.
Sluggo   02/25/2013 08:38:05
Lets see ? Fact# 1 It has been over 3 years since the U.S. Senate passed a budget

Fact # 2 The Government is borrowing over .40 cents of every dollar it spends

Fact # 3 There are NO real cuts to the spending , just a reduction of the rate of increase built in to Federal spending

Fact # 4 CBO numbers confirm the Federal Govt. Waste is at an all time high ! Over 117 BiLLION
last year alone!

Fix that before you come whining about this service or that service... or this Park or that Park

Sadly most uninformed voters buy in ! Why not ? They have no skin in the game to begin with !

Zero Liability voters will always support
