Uncertain Future For Fire Fee

Previous Posts for this Topic

Pretty commical how the fire department is to protect, instead their new mission is to protect their job and pension. Same with the law enforcement protect and serve, ya watching entire families with small children walking down the main highway??? SAFE no just to help fund their failing state coffers. And then they wonder why tax paying citizens are getting pissed. WORTHLESS STATE EMPLOYEES JUST A START?
columbiasam   02/19/2013 14:13:58
We moved from the Columbia area in May 2012, and were still billed for the fire prevention tax!
OneWayToRock   02/19/2013 14:54:01
I did a little homework on the Fire Fee it's origins came at the end of fiscal year 2011 when the legislature needed to pass some stop gap measures to pass the budget because they no longer get paid if a budget is not in place by July 1. This was pushed through by politicians with out any regard for the backlash it would cause. Redline I am sure that the "Worthless State Employees" know why your pissed most of them are on the hook for the fee as well.

redline, you hit the nail right on the head...

Standard liberal operating procedure. Collect money for one thing and steal it on another. Democrats, destroying California since 1970.
squirter   02/19/2013 16:36:02
Due to improper hiding of Cal-Fire funds, property owners should be refunded the fire tax fee. Obvioulsy they didn't need it after all.
Bman   02/19/2013 16:42:02
Good ol' cal fire. Honesty at its finest. If our taxes don't pay for their services then where does our tax dollars go?
billybob   02/19/2013 17:24:19
Expand on this tax??? If moonbeam didn't pull 50 mill from Cal fire for more handouts in the 1st place, we wouldn't even be talking about this. I have rentals, "they" are hitting me for nine of them.
mountains   02/19/2013 18:43:21
I agree redline you nailed it, but I would say pissed is being mild.

What's worse the criminals released from prison early or the State government stealing our money?
bslral   02/19/2013 20:07:25
We were charge for 2 tax bills on a parcel with no buildings. I sure wish we would get interest on our money, they threaten us with that if we didn't pay. I'm so fed up with the way our government taxes and fees us to death!
Get Real   02/19/2013 20:50:53
Just how many people are aware that people who reside in the southern part of California are exempt from this so called "fee". However, our imposed fees will fund their fires. These are the same people who do not want prisons. Oh, okay just dump your garbage in my yard. What do, and where do my taxes go that are supposed to fund fire protection. And, why do I on a weekly basis witness HUGE fire trucks with a full staff, parking wherever they please going into a saw shop to drop off a weed eater? And, don't give me a line about, "Well if they get a call". Go buy at an auction a small truck, have a gofer take the weed eater in for repairs. But, when it's not your money and you think you can park wherever. Then what the heck!!!!

I love the logic, when the taxpayers can't shoulder anymore taxes the government stops calling them "taxes" and now calls them "fees"

As California continues to lose taxpayers and businesses and pensions for state workers continue to climb you will see more this creative labeling of new taxes.

This state is a trainwreck I hope the whole * place goes up in flames and the legislation has to explain why my $150 fee wasn't enough to put the fire out.
mountainman   02/20/2013 10:16:56
Boy,I hate to say,"I told ya so",but I did.Nice to see there isnt all the folks just dancing in the streets about this FEE,and how criminal any of us against it were!
dougl   02/20/2013 18:11:05
anytime entities take more tax money from the public, it just gives them more money to waste.By the way I love that new reader board that was installed in front of Summerville High, it tells you the time and other important information that no one really cares about,WOW! I guess I won't need to wear a watch anymore, thank you for spending our bond/tax dollars so wisley.
squirter   02/21/2013 14:03:10
Someone or group should start a petition to gather enough signatures to put a referendum on the ballot so the voters can repeal this illegal tax. Now that the state has found all of this hidden money, property owners should not be taxed any more, or at least get a refund.
sctonc   02/22/2013 00:33:36
@Get Real
Interesting that in your opinion there is an engine at a saw shop every week. I did not realize that saws and weedeaters broke that often? I guess, according to your opinion, we should keep the broken equipmenf so you can complain when they cannot use it to help you huh? I think you should research the policies and procedures before you state "facts" about it. How do you know the engine was not a volunteer engine and was not being paid? Do you even know how many engines here are actually full time and have a true paid staff?
amtgal   02/23/2013 08:57:22
may I please have my $150 back NOW?
ravillataMrCommonSense   02/23/2013 15:22:41
I just got my 'second notice'...tore it up and threw it away.
amtgal   02/24/2013 10:14:35
We did everything we were told to do in the outline. We sent 3 letters of protest, our check and then waited. OF course we were denied the request not to pay.BUT, we have all of our documentation so when it goes to court we MAY ha ha ha, get our money back. What really frosts me is that this is an annual fee so same rip off next year, the year after that and so on.....it's going to add up and line someone's pockets.!
