Sorry McClintock, but you're way in the minority on how to address gun violence, the economy, climate change, education, and immigration reform. That's why your party lost the presidency yet again and will continue to do so until you change your failed policies, not just your rhetoric. Thankfully, the rest of the country is more astute, educated and informed than most of the folks in this area. Heck, most of them can even construct a sentence without butchering it!
Blossom   02/13/2013 20:44:35
Tom, an overwhelming majority disagreed, really? Exactly whom did you pole? Your response sounds knee jerk to me. I heard many things the President said that made Big Sense. Perhaps you should weigh your words more carefully.
JRC   02/13/2013 21:26:04
"You know, taking bad policy and doubling down on it doesn't make it good policy and yet that was the entire essence of the State of the Union address." That is why his speeches are worthless dribble. No foundation and nothing substantial.
leaperman621   02/13/2013 22:16:44
No...
Getting your spending under control is like telling a crackhead to slow down.
monkeymind   02/14/2013 06:39:01
It would be nice to hear Rep MCClintock tell what he would like to see happen instead of always bieng negative. I wonder if he has ever had to support a family on minimum wage, or had a medical problem and lousy insurance.

Obama, master of S & J . . .
cattle dog   02/14/2013 07:46:40
A man of the people? When you buy an election, I just have to wonder

"In the race for House of Representatives District 4, the latest data available from the Federal Elections Commission shows fundraising through June 30. Republican Rep. Tom McClintock is outdrawing Democratic opponent Jack Uppal by a large margin, according to the latest data, with McClintock out-earning Uppal $864,546 to $25,956."
Crockett   02/14/2013 09:35:29
3 million illegals were given amnesty in 86 by Republican Reagan. Democrat T. Kennedy promised it would solve the problem & said never again. THAT WAS A LIE. Democrats want to give 11 million + illegals a chance to be voting liberals.
2 billion tax dollars to illegals in 2010 for anchor babies, and that's just the beginning of tax payers cost.

Google "most wanted" and see who the criminals are.
Crockett   02/14/2013 09:50:33
cattle dog, then you are saying Obama bought the election.

"Monkeyman" asked the right question. Mr. McClintock has been at the 'public trough' since age 26 as a career politician. Except when he lost elections, and then spent his time campaigning and fundraising for another election.
And is it really "cutting in line" that irks him about illegal immigration?
I have analyzed State of the Union speeches for 30+ years and seldom is anything of substance mentioned, just esoteric ideas and wishes.
BChil   02/14/2013 11:49:34
The only politician that is truly behind cutting spending would be the one (it'll never happen) to submit whatever it takes to cut congress' pay by 20%, downgrade their medical benefits to a plan with copays and deductibles, remove their expense accounts and reduce their "staff", and make pensions available only if they serve a minimum of 20 years in congress. You know...live like the voting public. HA!

@Crockett.... did you look at ALL the pretty pictures on that link you provided? I like the one that shows which corporations donated to which candidate.... Universities and tech companies for Obama (thinkers), banks and wall street for Romney (criminals), our US military for Ron Paul (wasn't he for reducing our empire and military?)
mountainman   02/14/2013 12:23:03
cattle dog ...you better look into "O's",$$$ vs Romney's then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CrankyDuck   02/14/2013 13:08:46
Mr. McClintock is a member of ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) This organization is un-American (in MHO), as they favor corporate'agendas over us little guys.(the people) ALEC writes laws and gives them to our representatives to take back to the state. ALEC says they only "suggest" but many laws have been passed that are IDENTICAL, to these "suggestions."See:http://afscmemn.org/state-legislators-%E2%80%98under-influence%E2%80%99-alec,-report-says.OR http://www.alecexposed.org/
Mr.McClintock spoke in Tuolumne County, where he was surrounded by people who parrot his ideology, he spoke at one point about "lunatic liberals"--He lives in "the bubble"--and rarely hears anything other than his own positions. I encourage ALL of us to write to him, and to show up at these "bubble" fests.
Crockett   02/14/2013 15:28:52
I don't think it's fair for a publicly funded university to fund campaigns. They want more money to indoctrinate the next generations of liberals coming from other countries and pad their own pockets. Gee, how much is Microsoft worth ? Are any tax dollars spent on their products? It's like the government donating to their own campaign.
Democrats damaged the economy with their well intentioned scheme to put every poor Black or Latino in a home they couldn't afford. I pay for my mortgage and like my bank.PS: I didn't like Romney I still thought he was better for all America's than Obama.
my2cents   02/14/2013 17:27:29
Thank you Rose. I couldn't have said it better myself, albeit to deaf ears...
remington   02/15/2013 08:20:27
classic hypocrisy when someone comes on here and attempts to degrade someone in this area by stating, "Thankfully, the rest of the country is more astute, educated and informed than most of the folks in this area. Heck, most of them can even construct a sentence without butchering it!"
how naive and shallow someone can be to degrade others to make them sound correct in their beliefs. lol wow. typical of that mentality...
CrankyDuck   02/15/2013 11:02:12
Dear Remington: your comment about "that mentality" perfectly reflects the meeting at which Tom McClintock, your representative & mine called some of his constituents "lunatic liberals."So by your definition he is naive and shallow, someone who degrades others so that he sounds correct? Or is your list of offensive name calling different than mine?Thank you for your words with which I close;Classic Hypocrisy!!!!
squirter   02/18/2013 09:10:18
McClintock's comments are dead wrong. The ecomomy is getting better. Jobs have been created almost every month since Obama took office. The stock market is near an all time high. Housing starts are up and interest rates are low. Gun violence needs to be addressed, job creation, immigration, and the devastating cuts the sequester will cause needs to be addressed. McClintock is on the wrong side of these issues. Obama, with reasonable members of Congress are coming up with common sense solutions to address these issues. McClintock doesn't want to work in a bi-partisian way to solve these issues. He doesn't represent the views of Mother Lode residents. He needs to be voted out of office next election. He is nothing more than an obstructionist like the Tea Party nutcases.
thegiantkahuna   02/18/2013 15:13:36
Thanks for upholding our 2nd Amendment RIGHTS

History has proven time and time again that it is dangerous to believe laws to restrict law-abiding citizens from having semi-automatic weapons will reduce violent crime. Just the opposite occurs when you disarm the law abiding. Sandy Hook is another perfect example of the fallacy of gun control. Here is what happened...

Another psych drug failure steals guns, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.
Under the influence of the psych drugs, he shoots and kills his own mother, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW,
He transports these guns loaded, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.
He brings guns onto school property, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW,
He breaks into the school, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.
He discharges the weapons within city limits, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.
He murders 26 people WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.
He commits suicide, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.

And the power hungry leaders of our country somehow think passing ANOTHER law banning guns will protect us from monsters the psychiatric drug companies and their drug pushing psychiatrists started creating ever since these mind altering drugs were introduced to our youth!
