These people are drug addicts who steal from all of us to support their addiction. Locking them up isn't going to do any good; there are plenty of drugs in jail. They need to be forced into an in-patient rehab for at least a year to treat the root cause of their criminal acts; addiction to drugs. Unfortunatly, the criminal has to want help. They can't be forced to go.

Another good job by the so now if we could get the court to do there job..
remington   02/11/2013 15:06:01
squirter when did this country turn into a rehab center?
cattle dog   02/11/2013 15:29:57
Sounds like the some of items were most likely owned by kids.

Anybody who breaks into my place I would like to see go to jail in lieu of "in-patient rehab."
leaperman621   02/11/2013 15:42:09
They are already home I bet. Women traditionally get lighter sententing.
I know some of you might disagree, but I have seen it with my own two jellyballs.

What a nice family! Perhaps we should assist them in moving to Arizona?

It occurs to me the mother should also be charged with child endangerment since she has been raising her son with heroin and meth since how long? probably long before his last 18th birthday.

It also seems to me that the time for a burglar shooting death is drawing nearer.

Sooner or later an armed homeowner will be in their home defending their home when a burglar breaks in and gets the shotgun protection system.

Here are the pictures of the TCSO arrests this week;

Big Hill area. Why are we not surprised?
THM   02/11/2013 19:23:42
I wonder if these are the ones responsible for the racetrack and Sonora knolls burglaries?
SierraMatt   02/11/2013 19:59:48
It's so sad to read about this. Sad that these and so many others have made bad life choices and are reduced to this.
thrinnskaar   02/11/2013 21:52:39
What? No choice comments yet on the alleged immigration status of these two? Oh wait, they weren't seriously injured, my bad.
o-no-bigguy   02/11/2013 23:42:44
The sure cure of addictions is to treat them like the Quakers did in Pa. in the early days, lock them up in a cell with no light or communications with other prisoners 24 hrs a day, cruel and unusual, punishment, you bet, but so is stealing from someone that just getting by. After about 6 months bet their desire for drugs would be over.
uzi   02/12/2013 06:31:23
squirter, how do you know there is plenty of drugs in jail? you been in there? Or too much TV?
iconoclast1   02/12/2013 08:38:26
If there is one absolute that can be counted on...it is the ignorant, uninformed rants of the "summer water pistol"...

There are drugs in jail...this is true. There aren't "plenty", because the cost is ten fold compared to the price on the streets.

As for coerced vs. voluntary drug treatment programs while incarcerated and the recidivism rates for the two groups? Studies have shown time and again, there is no statistical difference between the two. In other words, offenders CAN be forced to attend drug treatment programs and the affect is statistically the same.

Whacked out left wing liberal rants are a great source of amusement.

Drug addiction is the reason these people commit property crimes. They trade property for drugs then pawn or sell it to others. If the addiction is treated to arrest their addiction, the crime will stop. Rehab and 12 Step programs can change lives for the better. As a person in recovery who didn't commit crime, I know many who have committed crime to support their habits. Of those, I have been told that there are plenty of drugs in jail. Get rid of the addiction, get rid of the crime. I'm not saying though that serious criminals should be sent to prison, but we should be focusing on treatment for addicts while incarcerated.

To remington. This state turned into a defective rehab state when the bleeding hearts voted in laws like Prop 36 and adopted the Deferred Entry of Judgement. Get caught with meth 2 or 3 times and you might get into trouble. Get caught driving with a suspended license and you get jail time first time. What is wrong with that?
kitty7777   02/12/2013 12:29:11
Sick to death hearing excuses for drug addicts. They made their choice. You know, it is A Choice? They start off with the same problems that We All Go through, they decide, I can't handle this...Although We do, and they get loaded to escape reality going on to bigger amounts of drugs to mask Their problems in Life. Then they rob innocent people to buy what they need to continue with their BAD choices. And we have to pay for them??? This makes me sick!!!!!! This younger generation is SO SELFISH...And the older ones that are STILL getting loaded and dealing are LOSERS teaching this generation their stupidity and ignorance and dragging more down with them so they have YOUNG idiots to party with and do other evils with. SICK....Any of these people DO NOT deserve for the state to pay. Go to jail.
kitty7777   02/12/2013 12:47:40
Squirter have you seen Tuolumne County 12 step program ??? You say you are or were in the 12 step program???It is a joke..It's a meat market. 13 steppers wait for new programmers to enter so they can use them, or should I say have them...I am not or ever been a program person, but went with a friend for 6 months, and it made me sick that their are no senior members watching out for new members stepping into the program to be taken advantage of. they know who their 13 steppers Are. I have witnessed this for 6 months with my eyes...drug offenders, especially the repeat offenders, need either their own families ( if they haven't beaten them or robbed them blind, ) But shouldn't expect us to except the burden. And rehab success is So low, but they don't report that to get your money.
monroe209   02/12/2013 15:16:53
Every time I see a story like this, I say the same to myself.. drug addicts, low lifes need to be put away, no excuse, they chose their path etc... I would like to clarify a couple of assumptions about the young man in this case.
1. [personal information removed: libelous]

I just hope the young mans learns from this and goes back to his father who taught him better.

Go home Mondo. Some are beyond help. YOU have hope and a future. Turn it around, get with the lord and move forward.
monroe209   02/12/2013 16:10:29
I would like to make a public apology for trying to "clarify" by publishing information that was censored for the following reason [personal information removed: libelous]. My post is in pieces :/. Basically the "system" has failed us and this young man. A very sad and all too familiar story in this town.
sabrina   02/12/2013 16:12:51
Thank you for your understanding, we believe what you say may be true but we cannot verify the details at this time.
thrinnskaar   02/12/2013 22:03:33
@monroe209
Just wondering...I am part of the public. Why do I need you to apologize to me? The only person who needs an apology would be the "Young man," no one else, right? It should be a private apology really. No one else needs one.
whoknew?   02/13/2013 08:50:09
squirter I too have been thru rehab and have been clean and sober for 27 years. If you have indeed been in rehab surely you must know that the only time rehab is succesfull is when the person really and truelly wants to stop their drug of choice. You could lock an alcoholic in a room for 10 years with no alcohol and if he didnt want to stop his first move would be to find a drink. Forced rehab may work 1% of the time but I seriously doubt it will last long term. And to adress Monroe 209's posting. Why do you think the system has failed this young man? I would say his Mother failed him and he can either spend the rest of his life wallowing in self pity about that or take responsibility for himself and improve his life.
