We the taxpayers will be paying for all of the medical costs, ambulance, towing, etc. That will probably be in the high end of 5 figures. Can we subtract that from the millions/billions we send to Mexico in foreign aid?

WOW!!!! Citizen or not that is still someones son, brother, uncle...this is a human being someones loved one and most of you are only concerned if he is legal rather than worry about how he is. My prayers and thoughts are with his family. And hope that he has a speedy recovery.

Seat belts aren't required in Tuolumne County, my brother has gotten three seatbelt tickets and the same judge threw all of them out-makes me sick. I know I will be going to his funeral someday or worse he will kill somebody when he is not able to maintain control of his vehicle because he was thrown into the passenger seat when he swerves to miss a deer!

Is there something wrong with you people? I could understand the tax payer part, but he is still a person. And yes, he IS a citizen.!! I know somebody that knows him and he is.. I guess he is not doing to good. Prayers go out to him and his family. Have more compassion

Geez people...just because he has a hispanic last name doesn't make him an obvious illegal...talk about profiling! My kids have a hispanic name...they were born and raised in California...along with their dad! I am embarassed to live in the same area as such closed minded people! Chances are if his name was Joe Smith he would have a license. And chances are if he's Mexican and is driving without a license, he's probably here illegally. That's not racism. It's a fact. And it's not wrong to be upset that our tax dollars are paying his medical bills.

The truck wasn't his. He decided to take it without the owners permission. And unfortunately previous commenters were correct in there " illegal immigrant" assumptions. I hope this article is updated after the police report is filed.

There are people here that are immigrants that are here legally that pay taxes and work harder then some of the citizens.

@votetheconstitution - if it turns out that he is in fact an illegal immigrant, then no, what you said would not be racism, but that fact remains to be determined. Jumping to that conclusion solely based on the facts presented in the article, namely that he was not carrying a license and that his name was Ramirez, definitely is racist. There are lots of people in this county with Hispanic surnames, who have been in the country a long time and are perfectly legal. And why would you assume he is "Mexican", as opposed to being from El Salvador, Honduras, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama or anywhere else down south? Do you think it is ok to lump people from all these countries together and refer to them as "Mexicans"? At least have a bit of respect.

Citizen or not he did not have a license. Wasn't wearing a seat belt. Was driving too fast for conditions. Doesn't have insurance. WE the taxpayers will foot the bill for his recovery. He obviosly didn't care much for his own safety but we are supposed to feel compasion? Hmmmm
