Wow - Why then do we need the special assessment (tax) for rural area again? If Cal-Fire has a slush fund, then why can't that be used?

And how many of you voted for the "temporary" sales tax increase? And how many of you supported the fire tax? Brown claims he is going to balance the budget in 6 years....how about starting with a REAL, independent, and competent audit of the state budget. Why have these hidden funds gone undiscovered by the state auditors? As a former municipal government agency CEO, I can assure you, these hidden funds are just the tip of the iceberg. So called "soft" corruption and gross mismanagement of public funds is a pattern and practice of the California state government, on both sides of the aisle. Yet the "sheeple" of California continue to vote these thieves into office and continue to vote for tax increases. As the saying goes...A sucker born every day!

Hidden funds by CalFire...meanwhile they continue to collect illegal taxes for property protection by labeling them "fees" not taxes, yet collecting them using the State Board of Equalization and remittance adress that uses the "tax" dept. I want my money back, and I'm sure a lot of others do too! I hope the Jarvis group nails them to the wall in the lawsuit that's pending.

Talk about orginized crime, the biggest gang is our own government officials and Jerry Brown being the mob boss. Brown passes a rural fire tax that is against Ca constitutional law and Cal Fire has 3.6 million stashed with a government fence that charges 18% to get it out. Plus no one will be held acountable, they,ll just pass it off as a mistake! And the sad thing is, the people will buy it!

Since this is happening at the state level, it isn't a big stretch to believe this is also happening at the federal level. It's all about mindset. Politicians and government employees must embrace the fact that we the people have every right to expect that every dollar given to them must be stretched to its limit and not set aside in departmnetal piggy banks. Do the budgeting methods need to be reviewed and updated? Absolutely. How about employing best practices used by successful businesses as a model for this? I'm surprised that state/federal employees, who are also members of we of the people, aren't speaking out and whistle blowing to stop these abuses. After all, their tax dollars are also being wasted.

If the Fourth Estate (the media & so-called "reporters") were to do the investigative reporting they used to do (25 years ago), government & corporations wouldn't get away with all the crooked stuff they do now. But all we get anymore is the latest medical "breakthrough" or some gossip about a sports figure, keeping us all in the dark and allowing public & private wrongdoing to run rampant behind the scenes.

First the state parks hidden fund and now Cal Fire. And those are just what we know about. It is no wonder the average person is so disillusioned with government.

When cal fire or the state parks or other government entity does something like this, it's an oversight or mistake. When you do it, it's fraud.
