Thank you Sheriff Mele, I appreciate your support of the second amendment of the US Constitution.

This almost restores my trust in our elected officials. Remembering what they are sworn to do is amazing. I think it is great that some will stand up for the citizens and it sickens me some others would use it for a grand stand for their own agenda. The government reduces the law enforcement by strangling the life out of the budgets then they try to take away our right to protect ourselves? Sounds like I have heard this in history books from other countries. My hat is off to the elected officials that are standing up to the tyrants trying to make up the rules as they go along. The Constitution was enacted for a reason!

Big brass ones! Bravo!

Very commendable Sheriff Mele. Now, in view of all the criminals being released into our community would be a good time to issue more carry permits to law abiding citizens. I offer a sincere thank you for upholding and defending our American Constitution.

Guns go off in theaters, and our sheriff is playing politics. Disgusting, sad and SCARY!

I think I'll do some research and write to Mr. Obama myself about how long I've been in this rural area, and also how I HAVE LEFT HERE before. I think I'll mention how that gun went off in the theater, and I think I'll look into a lot of other shall we say, significant issues.

Thanks for the inspiration Mr. Mele, I'm going to do the same, and also mention alcohol, tobacco and firearms...I think I'll go into prescription drugs too...and how backwards the thinking is in areas like this where slimy guys like Berryhill, McClintock and Mele play these disgusting games and convince people to vote against their own interest.

It is not on MML, but there are MANY MANY law enforcement organizations that FULLY support this, because it's reasonable.

I wonder how many other sheriffs have similar sentiments. It would be fun to see a map of the country broken down by counties showing which sheriffs support the proposed laws, and which do not. I am sure that no one knows better than the sheriffs whether these laws are really needed.

Maybe even something like an association of sheriffs where they could offer reasonable laws that would actually help and make sense? That would also put a stop to gun control advocates citing anonymous law enforcement agencies as the source of these asinine rules they are dreaming up.

As soon I see a term like "collapsable stock" or "pistol grip" being used to ban a rifle, I know that the law is now about fulfilling a political agenda rather than solving a problem.

Amen - why on earth would we pass sensible gun restrictions such as limiting the ability to have semi-automatics and 100 magazine clips when we can have a big brother government school guards in every hallway and school.

I'm sure all of us conservative less government republicans can agree that we MUST spend millions on growing our govt spending via armed guards. We clearly are flush with money to do this and who would want teachers when we can have cops.

Lots of Sherrifs around the country are sending the same message to Mr Obama. Will he listen to the men who should know best what effect new gun laws will have on violent crime? I certainly hope so and my hat is off to Sheriff Mele for having the courage and taking the time to send this message to the president. RE: Wethehonestppl gun & theater etc , Accidents happen. Do you want to take all the cars off the road because of a fender bender????????????

The only political ploys at their best are coming from left wing wackos! All they want to do is take, take, take, and give nothing in return! I am one of the top 2 percent and very much believe in the constitution, that is the very foundation that built this country. Lets not forget what the Pledge of Allegiance says (One Nation Under God, INDIVISIBLE) which is exactly the opposite of what that party wants, and your leader is doing! Vilify the wealthy, label law abiding gun owners and supporters of the second amendment, point the finger at businesses and corporations, tell people that they're racist if they didn't vote for Foebama..... shall I continue? This is really sad and scary where that party is taking this country! I feel sad for you!

Silly Mele, red neck cops who "cling to their guns and religion" are voiceless in DC. Only big city people and big city culture counts in America. Thanks, but you are one of those Americans who just doesn't count.
