I agree with this as far as back ground checks. We do need to tighten up on the people whom should not obtain weapons. At the same time LEGAL owners should not be penalized.

The difficulty I have with gun control is the incrementalism of it and the end game of disarming the population. There is a sickness in our culture and society, but instead of facing it the government wants to ban guns. Adam Lanza wasn't allowed to buy a gun because of the mandatory background check and waiting period, but he still found a way. We need nut control.

Guns are the wrong target.

Why?

Because prior to these shootings, there were just as many guns per capita and there was unrestricted access to semiautomatic weapons. But even more evidence that guns are the wrong target is the undeniable fact that where guns have been severely restricted, the statistic of murder, HAS NOT DROPPED, IT HAS INCREASED!

We should also be protecting our children and our communities from swimming pool violence.

Every year more and more children are senselessly killed by swimming pools. The most deadly of these are the very scary "assault swimming pools", aka water park style pools. They are too tempting for children to resist.

The government needs to immediately confiscate all swimming pools which contain more than one of the following features:

* Water Slide
* Fountain
* Grotto
* Colorful mosaic artwork
* Diving board
* Lagoon

I don't believe for a minute Obama cares one iota about the deaths of 20 white children. I grew up in the south and everyone carried a gun. Pick up trucks and gun racks with guns were a common site. You would go to someone house and there were always guns in plain site. Thats just how it was and all of us grew up and were taught gun safety. As kids we all got together and shot guns on weekends or after school in the brush. No one got hurt and no one got shot. And as a kid I cant remeber very many houses robbed or people being assaulted. Why you ask, because everyone was packing or a gun was close. Unlike today in this crazy state!!! BTW your fooling yourself if you think these gun control measures will curb violence. Criminals are not going to give up their guns along with the gangs. Wishful thinking.

I doubt they are going to run down and turn over their guns into a dealer and go through a back ground and mental check.. I guess you know more than we do about felons following the law.. Common sense would tell met they don't really care about what the new or old laws consist of..
I can see a criminal trading in his high capacity mags in order to follow the law. He will commit the crime regardless!

Our judicial and mental health systems have shown a minimal impact or consequences towards these offenders thus leaving the stable law abiding citizens at risk. With these circumstances the last thing a reasonable person wants or needs is the government restricting our ability to defend ourselves?

I too hunt and have personal protection weapons but the assualt weapons should be left for military and police, they are meant to kill humans. As far as all the whining about gun control, those of us who live in California already have these laws so what is the problem?

Take a few minutes to write to our representatives. We must speak up to protect our rights and legally keep our guns. Spritzer & BChil the 2nd ammendment was not written for hunting. It was however intended for self protection. But not from the crook down the street. It was written so we would have the ability to protect ourselves from a corrupt government. If I have to fight a corrupt government army I would like to at least have the benefit of an AR15 with a 25 round clip. Realistically I doubt it would do me much good against an army but hey its better than nothing. If you don't believe we have a corrupt government read this. i'd bet that all of you freaking out a proposed gun laws didn't bat an eyelash when the patriot act was put in place by executive order, which to me is a much scarier violation of my personal rights than the right to own military grade weapons.

We in C.A. have strict gun control laws.Would it help if the other states adhered to our regulations? I believe you can go to neighboring states and buy a gun and leave with it that day!
