Remove that eyesore at O'Byrnes Ferry and 108!!!

First off, tear down the burnt out building across the street from the Gunn House and then fix the front of the Sonora Inn. Or did they?

@A federal bureaucrat is the only thing known to dig in tighter than an Alabama tick.@

I care about Sonora. I do NOT care for the govt. The govt eats up over forty percent of the GDP.

The govt aren't just tics these days. They are raving vampires looking for their fix.

I had to call a govt employees for the city of sonora today.
The Sec. told me he was at lunch. This was 11:00 AM
I called again at 1:30 PM...Still at lunch according to the sec...
She said he gets off lunch at 2:00 PM.

Man! What a racket! Three hour lunch breaks on the taxpayers dime.
Maybe they could look into THAT.

Jojo - fine, but that's the County's problem, not the City of Sonora's.
pbl   01/16/2013 19:34:19
@jojo - I may be wrong, but I do not believe that is in the city of Sonora. They need to remove the burned out buildings (Indian restaurant and apt house) - that is a priority.

@Things which equal the same thing also equal one another.@
Euclid

This is self-evident.

It is also self evident that people who live in Sonora CARE about Sonora.
IF they didn't, then they are fools for staying.

I care very much about Sonora. First its a great town that's full of history and heritage. It's more of a home town attitude than fancy and frilly. And what needs to be changed is really NOTHING! Well you could stop letting those OWS from nagging passerby's. But seriously, a sign entering town should read: "Your entering Sonora, wave back, smile and forget how you drive in the bhey area and settle down. Leave your obnoxious, harried, belligerent attitude at the county line. Oh yeah. One last note, just cause your car is four wheel drive doesn't mean you know how to drive on snow covered roads.

Hey MyMotherlode thanks for giving us 1 hour notice of the meeting tonight at the opera hall. And fix the Sonora Inn
what an eyesore.
zibhammad   01/17/2013 07:58:10
Why not aim for some of the easy stuff to do first? For example, why won't Clarke Broadcasting, the owner of the radio stations and this website, remove the electronic message board from their building? It is clearly incongruous with any goal of historic integrity of the area around the Opera Hall.

And that's something to think about..

O.K. Got it, it's county but it would still be a big plus for improving the first impressions as one drives to Sonora. Also, have to agree with zibhammad, that sign really stands out, and not in a good way.
o-no-bigguy   01/17/2013 11:20:18
My answer to your question is not really. As far as the indian restaurant goes, they let the owners walk away and now were are stuck with the clean up bill. Trying to find the owners is going to be near impossible since they all use the same last name.

Remove trash from parks ( not talking about litter here). Too many shady people in downtown. It could be a nice place to have a picnic with your family or something.

zibhammad

I believe MOST of us like it. We also like the sign by the bank that shows the time and temp.
o-no-bigguy   01/17/2013 15:38:10
The tourist bureau could publicize Sonora as " Step back to the old west, come to town and watch a bar fight every friday and saturday night on old main street. But watch were you sit, might be a hypo hidden on the seat".

Seriously! Only 11 people? Let more people know with more notice. May get more than 11...
