I would love to see the upper two parking levels on Green Street become public parking instead of permit only. Those lots are nearly empty all the time and yet people are driving around and around searching for a parking spot. It is a great central parking location for the public yet completely unavailable. The city would lose money on the outragous fees they collect for those spots but it would open up a ton of prime location parking spots. There is no need to build any more parking lots or change existing ones when this lot has two or three cars in it during the day.

Just my two cents.

That whole parking building was built on the premise it would be for the public....A few years went by and the gubmint grabbed it for themselves.
We payed and they took.

@ LuckyLady, I completely agree. With all of the personnel cuts over the last few years, they don't need that many reserved spots.

I think the money should be placed in an account to fund the new jail (which should not be started until all of the money is in place). Keeping criminals off the street, and out of the revolving door we currently have at our jail would go a long way toward making downtown a nicer place, in my opinion.

I had a vision, I got to walk thru town without seeing all the drunks and tweakers on main street. Hay LuckyLade, but were would all our Gov't employees park. You know you can make our judges walk to work, people would stat to think they are doing their jobs, an then Staples sales would drop, no need to buy all those pens for signing plea bargain deals.
