Is anyone keeping track of how often local "Most Wanteds" are wanted only for drug offenses? Seems like it might be 75 percent of the time. Is this really a good use of tax dollars?

I've never used drugs and never will. I think it's a shame that so many do. But I don't understand why so many of the "Most Wanted" are merely for drug possession. I would much rather have the police focus their efforts on people who commit crimes against people and property.

Would you prefer the people be wanted for violent crimes?? It's absolutely a good use of tax dollars. A large number of people who are addicted to drugs steal, rob and commit assaults. Like most people, I work hard for what I have and certainly don't want some drug addict stealing from me to support their habit. If you on the other hand think they should be allowed to commit crimes with no consequences, then you should open you home to them so they can victimize you and leave the rest of us alone.

They are mostly drug and alcohol related crimes because that is what most crimes in Tuolumne County are.

I have know a heck of a lot of people who smoke pot and never knew one who's habit lead to the point of being a thief let alone a burglar. I'm not saying it never happens but it's rare. On the other hand those who use meth, cocaine or heroin pose a serious threat to themselves and others in search for their next fix and that is where I think law enforcement should concentrate their efforts.
In this case the story said a " controlled substances " which could be one of the highly addictive drugs above. Low level junkies can lead cops to bigger fish too.

As a libertarian me thinks let em screw up their selfs as long as they are not commiting any other "real crimes" and expecting society to bail them out when they do...As far as the druggies victimizing others thats where the 2nd amendment and personal responsibility comes into play, cops can't be at every scene of a crime....

Tuolumne County's Most Wanted are chosen randomly. There is no connection between the seriousness of the crime committed and who is chosen as most wanted.

I feel that the most wanted should be chosen by the seriousness of there offenses, I find it insulting that we have violent criminals and parolees at large and our most wanted is only hurting herself.

Nice Shot, if that is true then what makes them MOST wanted, aren't they just wanted. Most Wanted to me means that this lady is a higher priority for capture than the others that are just wanted. A random selection eliminates the "Most" out of Most Wanted. What this rag ought to do is put all of Tuolumne Counties wanted (most or not) on this site and run them every day until they are caught and then we will know who and which naughty people are still out there. That way we can feel safer. Isn't that the point of putting naughty peoples pictures in the newspaper in the first place?

I just think if the most wanted is penny ante we shouldn't HAVE most wanted.
I think it's ridiculous to puff things up.

Credibility is lost when "hype" is used to grab the public's attention. "Most wanted" should be reserved for those most dangerous to the public, not for garden variety offenders who are skipping out on a court appearance. Also, if it's really as "random" as "Nice Shot" states, then the title should read, "people we'd like to arrest again".

@Kafir, if you've ever taken a drink of alcohol or used tylenol, you've used drugs. Making something "legal" doesn't remove the altered state of mind. Let's be honest with ourselves.

No not just a warrant, A Felony warrant. This county needs the streets cleaned up..Keep those pictures coming....If there are no violent people out there at the moment, put the people the cops are looking for and let the public turn them in. Less work the cops to do and more time for more important things for them to put their time into.
