Like we didn't see that coming!!!!!

What ever happened with all of the lip service, we got in the past from the Board of Supervisors, investigation why gas price were high in the Motherlode.
zibhammad   01/14/2013 11:28:18
You guys need to leave the County now and then for a reality check. Prices here are no longer seriously inflated due to the AM-PM stations at either end of town. Their willingness to keep the prices low have caused the others to be more competitive. It used to be whenever I passed through Oakdale I would tank up, but no longer is that necessary. The real question is why the Casino doesn't lower their prices. They don't have to pay the same taxes due to their location on Indian land, so they are actually making more profit than the other guys.

They go down before the election and up after the election, any coincidence there ?

zibhammad is correct - gas prices are actually a few cents lower at the Valero station in Oakdale, but the old rule that Oakdale is the best place to tank up seems to have disappeared over the last few months. Sonora is at least 20 cents a gallon cheaper than the Bay Area, and 10 cents cheaper than Calaveras and Amador counties also. Enjoy it while you can!

The gas prices actually went down AFTER the election. They were near record highs before the election.

ludicrous85 you took the words right out of my mouth!
o-no-bigguy   01/14/2013 19:27:41
Zibhammad, I guess what your saying is since their was no competition up here and every dealer was took part in price fixing, that was ok. It's funny you drive thru Jamestown and all the stations are still very close in price and high. One dealer raises their price and the three other station follow suit. drive up the hill to Sonora and price come down quite a bit, it's a wonder what a little competition has done for gas prices, as I said in the past, the station owner were making a killing on us and blaming it on supply prices, Still waiting on an answer from our Board of Supervisor about their gas price investigation from two years ago.

@Crockett
They went down in early December. This was AFTER the election.
wethehonestppl   01/15/2013 09:15:51
Oh this is good stuff!!!

Haha, Sabrina writes an article about what contributes to gas prices.

It is not something you can blame your perpetual scapegoat on. Get a grip!
sabrina   01/15/2013 09:49:30
my article was from back on December 6th http://www.mymotherlode.com/news/local/1890504/What-Makes-Up-The-Price-Of-Gas.html This new was written by B.J. Hansen.
JRC   01/15/2013 10:06:36
Seems to me the prices were @ 3.19 and now we're @ 3.39. I'm not a math genius but that's a 20 cent increase and rising.
Crockett   01/15/2013 10:24:47
Thrinnskaar & Princess, prices of gas were $3.64 per gallon in 2012 and $3.44 in 2013 which is lower than 2011 ($3.53) but not as low as in 2010 ($2.78). I'm looking at dollars not cents.

The president has blamed all his broken promises and failures on your perpetual scapegoat GWB for 4 years now.
mcarden   01/15/2013 14:01:19
o-no-bigguy - there certainly seems to be collusion in setting prices in some areas. Drive through San Andreas any time, and you'll notice that all the half dozen or so gas stations have the same price for regular. Sunday it was $3.59. I don't believe they can all be owned by the same person.
thrinnskaar   01/15/2013 19:58:44
@Crockett
Now that makes sense, but to clarify, GWB is NOT my scapegoat anymore than Obama is. Or any less. They both come out below my standards, which makes them both lousy Presidents in my opinion.
wethehonestppl   01/16/2013 09:11:16
Yes, exactly and it was a great article. So soon people forget and go back to blaming!

Maybe we need a common sense injection once a month!
wethehonestppl   01/16/2013 09:13:57
And GWB was not blamed for everything he ought to have been...the economy that was climbing and took such a bad turn (along with many other things) because of good ol' W.
Whew. I think if you guys looked at real numbers you'd have a heart attack.
