These recommendations sound like a good idea to me but I suspect the minority liberal activist will try to stop it. Just like affirmative action where a non-white job seeker with a GPA of 2.2 is hired ( government job ) over a white job seeker with a GPA 3.4. These liberals will fight for lower standards so their kids will graduate. This is exactly why the country has so many stupid un-employable ( factory line jobs shipped to China and Mexico thanks to Clinton ) people and have to import foreigners to fill jobs. Double standards lead to crime not work. I believe these kids should be FORCED to finish school, no dropouts.
Because ultimately, you do not fix education by lowering the bar. You do it by lifting the kids.
google " lowering the standards for minority students "
Crockett I Agree 100%.
Interesting a new test for kids that cant read to begin with, hell they have a hard time figuring how to fill the bubbles already. I think this brain trust need to spend some time in a inter city school and see the interest the kids have on getting ahead, You ask most of them and their respond is I going to play in the NBA or NFL.
Exactly why, Crockett, that Massachusetts schools are doing so well even compared globally - every single individual from administration to the students are held accountable. There are no free passes. To speak to the story and test changes, critical thinking skills are much more an indicator of long term academic and career success.
The kids are not doing well as it is. These tests will expose the great failures of the teachers and kids in the cities even more.
Crockett I got to say the democrats are not solely responsible for outsourcing, they had plenty of help from republicans. I don't hear anyone but Naderites and Buchanonites talking about how unfair trade is killing our jobs and enslaving people in developing nations. They are labelled as far right or far left for doing so.
On affirmative action, it is really unfair to assume non-Caucasian people are unqualified for the jobs they hold, although I agree with you on the main principle of not hiring based on merit.
Does anyone remember the CETA employees of the 70"s. One hiring list for whites and one for minorities and underpriviledged. I had the experience of nailing the hiring process and sitting at the top of the "white list" with a high score but never hired because they had to take employees from the "other list". That is why we have so many incompetent government employees in place nowadays. Accepting stupidity hurts everyone.
