When they do win the case, if the dems are still in the majority with a dem gov., they will just vote and pass it to be a tax anyways....get ready to pay it every year sadly.

I did every thing they outlined. I have my denial letter now too. It was worth the time to do it just in case they do win,we will be able to get our money back. It doesn't take much time so do it today and then sit back and wait for this to go through the court system.

If they win the DemocRATS should have to pay interest on the refunds.

If you check your statement, you will see that this bill was for last year. BOE told me another bill will be coming out in just two months. Sure hope we all get refunds.

I am just not paying and i will drag it thur the court system for years and years.A tax lien is much different than a lien for non-payment of a "fee". I could drag on forever.

If the court decides that this "fee" is illegal why do you have to have a a "Petition for Redetermination." on file. The state should refund the money whether you wrote "50" letters to everybody and their brother or not.

If we don't get refunds we should install toll booths at all county entrances and charge non-residents a fire/litter fee.

here are the addresses for the refunds with in 30 days of your bill. Some are getting refunds while others are not. Over 55,000 letters have been received so far. Still waiting on my answer as they received mine. Next bill is due June 30. Agree this is BS!

Profiling the hill counties for additional taxes? I say raise everyone's taxes state wide. But Sac won't do that and have the whole state pissed off. But no matter what happens, the lawyers still win.

My bill was dated August 30, 2012 & there was no appeal/protest process established that early on. I paid the tax & as soon as an appeal/protest process was established in early October, I submitted my protest petition even though it was a couple weeks beyond the due date (30 days from the date of the tax bill). They returned my petition stating it was not filed in time. I couldn't get answers from anyone in September, 2012 how to appeal or petition against this tax! What brain trust decided these petitions had to be filed within 30 days? That's arbitrary and capricious. Everyone who paid this should get a refund.

....I didnt get a reason why mine was denied...I hear a Watershed Tax"fee",is hitting down south.....just a short matter of time till we get that one too.....for S.F.'s water ya know!!

argh...I didn't realize it was an annual fee until now. I have to prepare to pay again in June??? this is thievery at its best.So after 5 years I will have paid $750?? Multiply that by how many home owners are billed and viola, budget problem solved for the state by those of us in "fire country"...hmmm, just doesn't seem fair or ethical.

@crockett….give your suggestion two seconds of thought. Are you proposing another level of bureaucracy and build booths and hire people to collect money. Then assign a bureau to administer the funds?

amtgal,I am afraid you are not in the minority.We tried telling people that back when this first came up,and we were made out cry babies,and firefighter haters...oh,yea,and mine will be due in March...not sure where you got June from?
