Comcast told me it was scheduled cable maintenance. Would have been nice to be notified, or have some easy way to check this. Excellent customer service.....NOT!

This is a major outage that Comcast still has no ETA to fix. It also includes Stockton, Lodi, all of Calaveras and Tuolumne counties. The services have been out since very early this morning. Internet service is limited and most websites are currently unavailable. Problem is most likely from damaged fiber optic cables somewhere.

i'm guessing the issue was either cut fiber or something else equally serious in one of their head-ends in fresno or sacramento.
definitely a regional issue, not just a local issue.

Our problem is we triple bundeled with comcast. Living in the Arnold area we have no cell phone service. So we are unable to advise comcast when any of our service goes out. We may have made a bad move by bundling.

We have phones bundled too . You have approx . 8 hrs battery back up.Just plug a land line phone in on back of modem.

Comcast seems to lose phone, Internet and/or cable on a regular basis. Every time you call in they say they're working in the area. Maybe they would get it together if they had to refund part of our payment every time they went down. Maybe that's why you don't get to talk to a real person.

My past experience with Comcast~ was a client over 10 yrs~ was that
if a bird passes gas on a line in Oakdale, we'd be out of service
for awhile, with no explaination or re-imbursement for time lost.

The foolishness is that I needed to read the story here before understanding why my Internet was out half a day.

@DJA your advise is incorrect. When the line is down there is no service to connect to. The backup battery is only for when the power goes out, not the service connection. Its hard to believe that a "scheduled maintenance" would knock out all of the county services without any word or warning. I wonder how things were at the county offices on their first day to work.... Or is the county services on a different trunk? Maybe someone here might know?

I called comcast after a customer called.
I went from idiot to level two to round robin.
Talk about Customer service.
Idiots.

The Battery back-up is only for electricity outages, not Comcast outages. My service never restored, even with multiple reboots and refreshes. Waiting for Comcast to come out and fix the problem. So dismaying. Bundling is cost effective, but perhaps with phone it's better to have a real land line.

I have Comcast for my Cable TV, my internet and land line phone line are with AT&T and my cell phone service is with Golden State. I have cordless phones but I also have a plug in phone. I believe you should "never put all your eggs in one basket". I understand, however, that in some areas this approach isn't possible. It really is in everyone's best interest to have a plug in phone especially for emergencies. How many times have we heard from emergency service/law enforcement that everyone should have a plug in phone because it will work when cell phone service and cordless phones won't? I've been thankful on many occasions for my plug in phone.

Addendum to my previous post. I think you need AT&T phone service to have a plug in phone that will work all the time. I was just told by someone that has his phone, cable and internet bundled with Comcast that even his plug in phones didn't work during the service interuption yesterday.

people hating on comcast, as they post from their comcast internet service.
on the flip side, i guess i'm the only comcast customer who has had zero outages other than yesterdays, in the last 12 months.
(I do agree that their level 1 tech support is a joke, though.. as is AT&T's)

umoveme - you could check out Dish Network for TV and Mother Lode Internet for internet if you don't want to do business with Comcast or AT&T. I've recently talked with a couple of people that have Verizon for their cell service and they seem to be happy so far.

ATT, Sierra Nevada Communications (towers), 4G, Satellite (wild blue, etc), rebranded ATT (mlode).
I hope that helps.

For what it's worth, We have had no significant downtime in over a year which is more than the other providers up here can claim. I've had several of them over the years. I had Frontier Broadband for the longest and they were not so bad, but comcast has definitely the best so far.

@Ryan
My post was not from a Comcast internet service. I don't have Comcast internet service, or any other service they provide. Oh, and I have never had a service outage either.
