What I would ask of our Men and Women in Washington DC is to put them on notice that if they do not perform as the law already states, and produce a balanced budget each year, then they go home after their term expires and they do not participate in the pension benefits afforded those who do their job. When we are in a fiscal crisis and the unemployment of the USA is above 6%, then they go home for not stimulating the economy and they must suspend all vacations and unnecessary spending, and that includes the President and First Lady's household.
When Washington DC does not do their job then the Business community and Corporations do not know if they will have the ability to expand, hire or spend because of the uncertainty placed on them by an indecisive electorate in DC.

I am not willing to do a darn thing to pay it off. It is not my debt, i didn't benifit from it. My needs from the government can be met with a balanced budget,,,,,unless i also am going to get a bunch of free stuff, that would make me want Mr Soetoro for a third term.

Your poll fails to give the choice of cut massive amounts of spending. We have got to stop assuming that entitlements are untouchable. Cut the Federal budget period! Start with all the costly trips Mr & Mrs Obama take.

Here's a list of what I'd be willing to do;
1) Cut off aid to foreign countries, most of the countries we send money to hate us so cut them off and let them hate us for free
2) No more handouts, if you want onto the Gov programs, you must work a set number of hours each week to earn your money – and you must go on birth control!
3) Drug test the recipients collecting Gov money, You should be forced to pass a urine test to collect a check since I am forced to pass one to earn it for you!
4) Turn education, health services and other responsibilities back to the states.
6) Reduce corporate and individual taxes, it will widen the tax base and get more people and companies paying taxes. CA is witnessing what happens when you raise taxes, people leave, the tax base shrinks and the state looks to then raise taxes again. It’s a vicious cycle which will continue until nobody is left.
5) Force congress to provide a "balanced budget" - no budget - no spending. This country does NOT have a debt or deficit issue, we have a spending and waste issue.

I don't think there should be a maximum earnings amount that you should pay Social Security Tax on. Right now there is a limit on how much income you make that is subject to being taxed. I think that all of one's income should be subject to Social Security Tax. If you make a million dollars, you should pay Social Security, Medicare, unemployment, and income taxes on all of it. This would reduce the deficit that Bush/Cheney drove up with unnecessary tax cuts and wars. The wealthy made tons of money during their administration, now it's time for them to pay some of it back to reduce the deficit.

Number one, the deficit is just the interest on the debt, which is over 16 trillion (as of a few months ago). If we're having problems paying just the interest, the low information American people need to know what serious trouble the economy is in.
The basic problem is Congressional mismanagement and corruption. We could agree to all of these reduction measures, but without correct management of the funds we will continue to pass budgets which add trillions (like this last one).

"Quote from MLI story"(The public debt remains at the set amount due to intra-governmental Treasury borrowings from surpluses in the trusts for Federal Social Security) "Unquote" Ahh yes and they tell us the reason social security is broke is because the people who payed into it their whole lives are receiving too much and they should take cuts!!!!!!!! The fact remains that even if they took every dollar we pay into taxes in 2013 it still wouldn't pay the interest on the national debt!! We the United States are broke and there is no fixing it without "GREAT GREAT" sacrifice from every taxpayer and there are fewer of us left with each passing day. I believe few people really have any idea how close we are to a total collapse that will make a Fiscal Cliff look like a molehill.

This was an inherently biased poll, because no-one is going to vote for a measure that directly affects them personally. If I was unemployed, for example, I would not vote for the "26 weeks unemployment" item, I'd choose one of the other items. You would have to get a lot more sophisticated with the questions you ask to avoid building in the likelihood of getting responses that simply involve "goring someone else's ox".

Rev's 6 points are RIGHT ON! Especially #1 - we are borrowing money to send to foreign countries, stop it now and let them borrow directly from China... No more foreign aid. I nominate Rev for public office ;)

Here is an idea.....If your are not working and paying taxes then you don't vote. Why should some slacker have a say in how my tax dollars are spent. When the slacker is a non-producer and is sucking down free entitlements right and left and has not contributed to the system, only taken. We are raising a country of non-productive citizens that have never worked but have a say in how your money is spent. While your busting your * working, they are watching TV, talking on there free cell phone watching Jerry Springer. Toulumne County is full of them just look around. My question to you is why should they have a right to vote?

Most of this DEBT is hot eair....and the FED will be the ones to benefit. They print the money for 10 cents on the dollar, regulate the banks to insolvency and then buy them out, then they buy the rest of the debt. Thus, repeating the cycle for their fire sale. Till they OWN everything, all in the name of DEBT. (Which THEY MADE!)

Hey Mickey, what a good idea! Let those who we give aid to borrow direct from China. The problem is most of them don't have good credit. They are a bad risk, so the US lends (or gives) it to them, while the politicians who vote for this would never lend a drug addict money from their own wallets. It is our debt, not theirs. Then they live high on the hog for the rest of their lives on government pensions and get great benefits on top. The American people reward this behavior, and as long as we do it will never stop.

1. Only tax payers should be able to vote.
2. There should be term limits for all elected positions and they should not accrue retirement benefits while in elected positions.
3. Mandatory sterilization for anyone who has children on the public dole. (If you can't take care of them you have no right to make them.)
4. Execute violent criminals on their second offense and use them as organ donors.
5. Yeah, yeah I know ... I live in my own dream world.

The food stamp program has grown every year since Obama was elected by Democrats. 106 Billion in 2012 alone. How about using federal land and those who use the stamps to grow their own food after being on the program for a year. Maybe they can become farm workers so we wont have as many illegal here too. Some of these people don't use the for food but entertainment

I agree!
If you don't pay taxes or are not retired, then you should not be able to vote. If one wishes to vote, they should WORK.
That simple.

This example shows the importance of accuracy in your tax return. The HMRC has returned the Tax Return to a man in Evesham after he apparently answered one of the questions incorrectly.
In response to the question Do you have anyone dependant on you?
The man wrote:- "2.1 million illegal immigrants and counting, 1.1 million crackheads, 4.4 million unemployable Jeremy Kyle scroungers, 90,000 criminals in over 85 prisons plus 649 self serving lying ponces in our Parliament and the entire European Commission".
The HMRC stated that the response he gave was unacceptable.
The man's response back to HMRC was "Who did I miss out?".

I can't go along with work to vote. Too many people are out of work due to their resistance to get an education, are injured, as well as employers being over regulated. I'm up for limiting unemployment payments to boost motivation, cracking down HEAVY on fraud at ALL levels, firing government employees and elected officials who fail to perform. Adjust government pensions to align with private employees.
I firmly believe voters should be tested for political and current event competency.
Truth laws have been resisted in government and media. The excuse is it would interfere with the 1st amendment and the free flow of information. I don't buy into that. The people need to stop Government and Media lies with strong penalties.
