Thank AB109 for this one, good work State of Calif, maybe the governor should pony up for the repairs, A convicted felon walking the streets.
rider   12/31/2012 10:18:15
Do you think he will be able to pay for the damage? The State Park system is already struggling enough, doubt they will pay to rebuild the concession.

Thanks, Daenon Brewer! One more off the streets of this county, guess we should say hoo-ray!
SierraMatt   12/31/2012 10:47:47
What an upstanding citizen. Drunk and high with matches. Nice. Mr. DA, is he back on the streets yet?
SST   12/31/2012 10:49:35
This is so sad.. Another person who should be behind bars yet roams free.. Sorry for the loss of the jobs taken away, sorry to the owners of the building and sorry to Columbia State Park
NTGUILD   12/31/2012 10:50:25
How is it known that this guy is out due to AB109? I would like more info on that. This is truly a sad day for our County.

"violation of probation" - so apparently there have been previous problems with him...
bgs   12/31/2012 14:19:29
I do not think that he is a result of AB109. I think he might be more of a failed mental health system.
sabrina   12/31/2012 14:26:15
Daenon Brewer was on probation. According to Sgt. Wilson the paperwork did not indicate that he was a a parolee or AB109 parolee.
Crockett   12/31/2012 15:07:48
Just curious if he grew up in a Fatherless Family. 85% chance he did.
o-no-bigguy   12/31/2012 15:25:06
Next question than why was a convicted felon on probation? got a slap on the wrist, If he did jail time he be on parole.

When criminals are not afraid of the punishment from the legal system the criminals will take more risks.

a hundred years ago if you stole a horse you were hung, guess what, there weren't a lot of horse thefts.

Expect more of this as the "they can be rehabilitated mommy crowd" refuses to implement firm punishment on evil people.

A child learns not to touch a hot stove, the burn reminds the child of that pain is associated with the stove when hot. I think we need the same “burn and pain” when criminals break the law to remind them that there are consequences in breaking the law, raping people or committing murder, slapping career criminals on the wrist isn’t cutting it.

What I find amazing is that this young man, barely more than a kid himself has already been in so much trouble. I agree with Rev, people need to know that there are consequences to actions, sometimes good, sometimes bad. My guess is that it is almost too late for him. More likely than not, he did come from a troubled past, but that doesn't mean a person has to use that experiance to carve out the rest of thier lives.

It's sad. It's sad that he cares so little about those in the community. It's sad that he cares so little about those whose lives he has disrupted, and caused misery for. Just by a simple, stupid and selfish act.
rdetjens   12/31/2012 16:41:04
well said. I am from the Azevedo family. Our family has been here for generations. It sickens me that someone with such evil can hurt our town. may the person responsible rot in prison with no contact with the outside world. we as a town should come together and rebuild our lively hood.
mrcaligreen   12/31/2012 18:00:29
You said it,REV! Right on the money. A lot of guys nowadays don't seem to grow up til they are about 40. If ever. Too much! He could use some old school "tough love".
Luckily, there were no injuries or deaths. .

When will Columbia FPD get back in the game and mend relationships with the rest of the county fire system. I'm sure the volunteers did the best they could but leadership and accountability have been sorely lacking. I'm looking forward to the ousting of the old guard and getting service and quality back to the forefront rather than farting around with the good ol boys. I'm surprised the engines aren't painted orange by now. For the boys struggling to do whats right and giving thier time to their neighbors calls for help, good job lads thank you for your efforts. For the others sapping up resources and dragging them down. HIT THE SKIDS!

Next time you go over the speed limit REV, im gonna break your foot, ya know, so you remember.

Moderaor: posted only in jest, noting sarcasm, as it is in response to REV's idea. Threats are not allowed.

I find it disgusting that a punk would find joy in doing things like this. Especially, the ones that have been released from jail. But, I also find it appalling that the Columbia Fire District has a so called chief that does not respond to any calls what so ever and take charge of his people. I sat and laughed as no one from the district took charge in a major fire in their own district, Cal Fire had to take command and run the fire. What are we paying them for if they can't even do their job and run an incident. Maybe county fire should take over fire operations in the entire Columbia area, including the fire district.
mollym   01/01/2013 22:24:57
Rev is a great man and I agree with everything he said
grey   01/01/2013 22:44:00
When will the Sheriff realize he and his department are no longer able to fulfill the complete job requirements and make it easier for law Abiding Citizens to get a Concealed Carry Permit? (emptying the prisons is just a recipe for too many violent crooks on the streets)
This type of crime could have cost a great many innocent lives if the building had been occupied at the time.
o-no-bigguy   01/02/2013 09:41:25
Crocket,
You comment does not cut water, I guess you feel that a women should keep a man around even if its a abusive relationship, also are you implying that a women cannot raise children properly if they are a single Mom??
Crockett   01/02/2013 11:06:54
keep guessing Carnack, and see my comment under the ( Getting Pregnant Faster ) story.
I'm not implying anything, that's a liberals job, you see, I'm more into verifiable FACTS .

Were there people who saw him break in to the restaurant? If so, too bad someone didn't use their cell phone to make a video of it. Then the witnesses could have/should have tackled him and held him until officers from the Sheriff's Dept. got there.
ludicrous85   01/02/2013 14:12:15
@o-no-bigguy.....Go to any of our state prisions and see what the precentage of inmates that grew up with only one parent. It will open your eyes!!!!
fire74   01/03/2013 20:12:09
to former 74 ( who I may already know) and to north county you two guys really don't like Fire Departments or respect The fire service all you do is run them down, we at Columbia have a long hist. in Columbia yea we have had our up and down but we still remain. and our fire chief has done allot for us and has more time in then you do,and if you need to air what you think about us come to our monthly meeting so we can hear you out.also this not the place for comments like you have done. now for the guy that burned our restaurant he needs to be in jail for a long time
