At the prices we pay them the excuses are lame and meaningless.
Do your job. You have the county and half the world at your mercy, with outrageous fees and contracts and generally do half the job. Now you want us to "understand" your plight, give me a break!
And while I am on the subject what happened to our "recycling" trucks, now your back to dumping all the trash in the same TRASH truck and the county turns a blind eye because you meet your STATE requirements without having to recycle our trash. People wake up, if you want to recycle take them to the shopping center recycling locations and get your money and do the RIGHT thing!! Trust me WMC is doing NOTHING FOR YOU!!!!

I don't know why WMI is being so defensive. As the article says, the delivery schedule they send out states quite clearly that their pickups will be a day late on Christmas, New Year and other holidays. It's just a question of reading the darn thing and figuring it out.

Too bad they didn't let the customers know earlier in the week. Everyone's trash sat around for an extra day. We finally called Friday night and got a recorded message, then it was in the paper late Friday.

Excuses...excuses. Its your job WM.if your not up to it, step aside., and let some one who IS up to it do the job. You've made sure you're the only refuse company around, so hire more people, send out more trucks, whatever it takes. Excuses don't cut it. Once again... thanks for the Monopoly! Its really paying off

I understand the holiday delay but I'm sick and tired of seeing our streets decorated with green garbage cans even if it's not a holiday. I can't go anywhere in the county without seeing these cans everywhere.
The new system is an UGLY eyesore !

Gripe, gripe, gripe. As I said in my original comment, the Christmas/New Year pickup schedule is clearly laid out on the schedule that WMI sends round every year. Also, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that, if they take a day off during the week, the remaining pickups will be a day late. I don't personally begrudge people a day off at Christmas and New year, but I guess some of you do. Is a one delay delay really that inconvenient?

You also need to thank the Sonora city council and the county board of supervisors for approving the contract.

The article clearly states that at the beginning of the year a letter is sent out stating the weeks of the year there will be WM delays. So before all of you sit here and complain maybe you should read the whole thing. It seems like all people have to say on this site is something negative. So what your trash sat there for a whole extra day, it's not the end of the world. Life is short you should choose to be happy and not complain about anything and everyone.

It must be too cold or the drivers are not allowed to exit the recycle truck when the automatic lift knocks over the container and spills the load. Thanks for leaving the mess for the customer to clean. True story saw it happen so don't even blame it on the dogs.

Geez People! It is really sad to hear all the vicious opinions out there! If you don’t like to pay for garbage pickup, if you are not satisfied with the service, you have the CHOICE to cancel your account and take your garbage to the transfer station yourself! I do that. Also, how much garbage you make is your CHOICE! (Along with how much electricity and propane you use) I make the choices of how much garbage will this create when I buy items. I create only 1/2 a little grocery bag of garbage a week, take it to the transfer station when I get a full can, the rest I compost or drop off at the recycle center for FREE! SIMPLE! Take responsibility of your own waste people!
On another note, the people who work for the garbage service do a nasty and stinky job. These people are ordinary people, our neighbors, trying to make money for their families and they deserve holidays off to be with them. Would you rather they lose their jobs and have to go on public assistance!

I personally don't want to do business with WM, but that choice has been made for me. I had no say in the contract, and I certainly wouldn't have bought them new trucks. So much for the free market, where are our alternatives? Someone got rich with this deal, it certainly wasn't us, the "consumers". America is dead, and this is a shining example of why.

tracytracy9043... Taking our garbage to the transfer station is still giving your money to Waste Management... Your "choice" is not much of a choice. There are no "other" alternatives, and that's what's so upsetting. I'm glad you "feel" like you're doing something different though; hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.

why do we have two identical news stories for this?? confusing to us simple people. Ok, well I will post comments on both...
whatever!!
I dont believe anyone here is dissing the employees of WM, they made their CHOICE, to work for them, it all goes with the job, just like the corrections officers who, feed, house, and take care of inmates on all the holidays and before and after, it's part of the job. It is the government administrators, corporate execs, and our elected politicians who need to be called to task.
Happy New Year!!, welcome to The Brave New World Order.
