Daahhhh, Has a temporary tax ever been rolled back in this state?

whats the point of this reporting...

George, you just trying to make us feel powerless or more stupid than we the voters are for voting in the increase? It seems to me george is not planning on being in the Board of Equalization much longer.

This is a given. When you give the state or feds more money temporarily, it is really permanent.

So?? Whats news?? The tolls on the bay bridges were supposed to cease when the original bonds on those bridges were retired. That happened a long long time ago.

Divisive, petty, backwards politics. Let's move forward.

Isn't that how it always goes? Once taxes go up, they rarely go back down.

I didn't vote for it, but wonder who the "majority" are? The "majority" of voters obviously feel that California legislatures are honest and spend money wisely. Or, could it be the "majority" that voted this in, are the "intelligent" ones in our communities that don't care how our funds are spent as long as they're receiving a welfare check? Anyway you slice it, the tax isn't going away. People jump up and down, scream and holler about how money is being wasted at the state level, then vote something like this in. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The "majority" is absolutely insane.

I like this tax. This, in conjunction with Obama-care and California's "terrific" business climate (sic) pushed me over the edge. We have reduced our workforce by 50%, have moved the company out of California (leaving the employees in CA with the corporation to exit the state - all legal and ZERO profits staying in CA).

I know this next comment is a tough pill for liberals to swallow but I am in business to MAKE MONEY and no matter how many verbal "eggs' liberals want to throw I will entertain capitalism and make business decisions which will drive revenue and profit, call me crazy but I started my company to make money, I took a risk and worked hard to reap the benefit of the company. California will keep raising taxes as they chase success out of the state.

How about that illegal fire tax? Even though we paid in protest and filed a application for redetermination, I doubt that we will get a refund on what is an illegal tax. The governor calls it a fee, which is not required to be voted on by the voters or pass two thirds of the legislature. Hopefully the State Supreme Court will rule that this is an illegal tax and order our money to be refunded. The voters just approved an increase in the sales tax which will probably end up in the general fund to be wasted on useless programs. Why are the property owners the only ones who have to pay this illegal fire tax? If it is truly needed, everyone should be paying for it.

Glad to hear that a lot of you are ok with this. Sure we all know that temporary taxes are usually permanent but that sure doesn't mak me feel good about it or think its ok. That is the problem. The politicians know the majority will never complain about it so they keep these sort of taxes going forever. I believe its called apathy......
