Already we see all over the country jobs lost and health care diminished by the Democrats health plan.
We are moving " forward, yes we can " downhill ! Nice job Democrats.

The problems with heatlthcare began years ago, when somebody realized they could turn it into an industry. As soon as hospitals lost their community funding, and everything revolved around the bottom line, the quality of care in this country began to erode. Sutter Healthcare, Columbia Healthcare, Humana Healthcare are only some of the profit-making corporations with no concern for individual patients, only how much money they can make for their share-holders. And one of the fastest ways they can make money is to reduce the workforce. This is only one of the reasons the Cal. Nurses Assoc. pushed to get a law passed to limit the number of patients any one nurse can be responsible for during any given shift. This is not a political issue, it's an issue of greed!

Crockett, come up with a better plan where people of all ages, phycial condition can get access to health care.
No plan will be perfect but at least Obama, and many before him, are trying something. When you are denied health care because of a pre-existing condition or your child is denied health care, tell me how you feel then. It is absolutely shamefull that our country has not embraced the importance of access to affordable health care and when they do so many are still so quick to complain.
Goose   12/20/2012 11:05:09
obamaCare,, woopeeee!!!!!!
SRMC just went through a round of cuts too. Thank you mr president, for all you do TO our country.

Sarcasm, just in case it went un-noticed.........
Devo   12/20/2012 11:58:50
LuckyLady - well stated. Our healthcare system is shameful for a wealthy nation. The problem with Obama Careis that it doesn't go far enough towards reforming our system.
Devo   12/20/2012 12:02:40
Very sorry for all of you affected by this. And MTSJH, what a terrible time to lay people off. Bad on you.
dougl   12/20/2012 12:25:48
The Affordable Healthcare Initiative (Obama Care) does not begin until 2014. So I really don't think that has anything to do with this. I think the bigger joke is that for years the healthcare industry has been telling us that they see industry growth and how you should train for a job in health care. Instead of Obama's health care law, which is a good start, we should have had a single payer system and gotten rid of the insurance companies altogether. We don't need overpaid, for profit, middlemen to jack up costs for healthcare and that is exactly what insurance companies do.
o-no-bigguy   12/20/2012 13:25:20
Yea give me free health care, along with the phone I was promised for my vote. When are the entitlement going to end, After OB get done with the wealthy,, who's going to be left to pay for all the entitlements, the working poor.
bookldy209   12/20/2012 14:00:58
Less about politics and Obamacare and more about the fact that the hospital is treating more uninsured people. It's not a sustainable model when less are paying in than those receiving services. County hospitals in general are an endangered species.
Goose   12/20/2012 14:37:35
dougl, you better double check your source. We've been watching our premiums go up, deductibles go up, co-pays where there were none, hour cutting, and layoffs, since June 2010. Guess when obamaCare started. MARCH 2010!
Crockett   12/20/2012 15:38:43
I agaree, it is absolutely shameful that our country has not embraced the importance of access to affordable health care. The cost of care itself is criminal. I'm sure we can do better. Clinton promised a national plan on both his campaigns within six months. I don't care what side figures it out but the current plan looks to be back firing on the starting line in a big way. And it must be fair to those who pay.

We should be the manufacturing and educational giant we use to be so people can get back to work. Export more, import less. Force school dropouts to get an education. We should control the boarder. Drop immigrant incentives. Buy American. Control fraud. Cut Pork. Outlaw street gangs. Have a budget.
WhoaMan   12/20/2012 15:40:40
The requirement that everyone has affordable health care does not go into effect until 2014. The provisions that are currently in effect have already helped many people. For one, you can get insurance with a pre-existing condition, and they can't drop you when you get sick, as well as a few other things. Good things are happening, check into it.
WhoaMan   12/20/2012 15:42:44
Costs keep going up because people don't have insurance, this will fix that problem.
mcarden   12/20/2012 15:47:34
The article in today's Union Democrat quite clearly states that the cutbacks are due to having to treat more uninsured people, plus reductions in government payments for particular programs. It also states that the hospital is looking forward to the implementation of the PPACA (aka Obamacare), as it will increase the pool of insured patients locally. The PPACA will affect different parts of the healthcare community in different ways, but hospitals should benefit. As should insurance companies, who will have roughly 30 million more customers nationally. I also find it a little ironic that people are now complaining about the cutbacks in government funding for some programs. I thought that reductions in "entitlements" were what a lot of people wanted. Why are you so surprised at the results?
okaythen   12/20/2012 16:16:58
This is very sad to hear and I'm sure there will be more to come. I still don't see how Obamacare is making healthcare affordable, my premiums have increased 40% in the last two years since Obamacare and Blue Cross tells me this year it's going up 25%. That's 65% in three years...so how is this more affordable for me? No, my premiums are going up to make up for the people who don't have health care and can't pay for it, well someone has to pay, doctors don't work for free. The government $ is the people's $. No working class to pay taxes, no governemnt. Keep squeezing the class that supports the 47%, no one in their right mind is going to continue working and paying taxes when half of their income is being robbed and given to those who don't contribute.
DJA   12/20/2012 16:26:46
We're hardly a healthy nation , almost 17 Trillion in debt and growing, out of control. where does the money come from. We are going backwards.
clementspuppy   12/20/2012 16:35:09
Goose- The problem is the high cost of company bigwigs within the insurance system and the medical folks
It can not be Obama care . That kicks in in 2014
mountains   12/20/2012 16:44:51
Well said lucky lady and good point to make dougl and very true devo..

Insurance companies are raising there rates because WHEN Obama care starts in 2014 they can't. Next Obama needs to go after the RX compaines.
SierraMatt   12/20/2012 23:50:29
Everyone keeps saying that it cannot be Obamacare, but it in fact is. The benefits to Obamacare do not kick in until 2014, but the costs start now. The real problem is more complex than that. It starts out with frivilous lawsuits. If we could reign in our legal system, many of the costs would go down quite a bit.

The part that people just don't seem to understand is that the only way for a system like this to work (Utopian) is that if everyone participates, (Even Congress) and less than 50% draw a significant amount of benefits. Neither is going to happen.
Anonso Quijano   12/20/2012 23:53:01
People keep saying obamacare hasn't started yet, but insurance premiums have been rising quickly since he was elected. They know whats coming and are making adjustments while they can. He is the cause, and we pay for the effect.
Happy Camper   12/21/2012 06:25:02
I don't care what you all try to blame these layoffs on, because it is due to Obamacare. My wife and several friends have received these layoff notices. This is before the Administor has a staff meeting to explain the situation. He totally blamed it on Obamacare.
We will do OK due to my position, who I feel sorry for are the single mothers that got these notices. What good timing, Right before Christmas.
I really hope that those of you that voted for this are very happy and feel good about yourselves helping all these young children being told that there's no christmas this year because Mr. Obama just lost my job for me. I for one and my family can say we didn't vote for this. We are hard working people supporting those that don't, and now we all have to suffer
metalbill   12/21/2012 07:05:13
What do we do when we run out of other peoples money??? Oh!! That's already happened? What happens when the worker bees quit working because they are tired of working for nothing? This is happening!!! May be the public employees union will help out? What do you think???
mountainman   12/21/2012 08:46:48
okaythen, thank you,so have mine only mine have doubled, and now they are telling us they will go up again.Yea,its really done wonders for me,and I only make $40,000 a year single income with a family. Thanks Obama!
mountainman   12/21/2012 08:48:26
You people saying its not Obama Care...Yes it is!!!Think about it....when did he start flapping his gums?2010...and the insurance Companies reacted accordingly...Taking unfair advantage of us!
