For those who claim nobody is trying to take away anyone's guns; what do you suppose will happen when possession of a "bullet button" equipped AR-15 rifle is outlawed? I'll tell you. Just like last time, they will give owners of these $1500 guns a certain amount of time to turn them in before they are considered felons. Yup, the state/feds will be confiscating the equivalent of $1500 from each owner with no compensation.

Thats not all......

(Cerberus Capital Management) acquired Bushmaster Firearms, Inc., from Windham, Maine native Dick Dyke for an undisclosed sum in April 2006, and purchased Remington Arms in April 2007. Under Cerberus direction, Bushmaster Firearms acquired Cobb Manufacturing, a manufacturer of large-caliber tactical rifles in August 2007. Cerberus also acquired DPMS Panther Arms December 14, 2007.[57][58] Remington Arms acquired Marlin Firearms in January 2008.[59][60] In October 2009, Remington Military products acquired silencer manufacturer Advanced Armament Corporation.[61] These companies were combined into the Freedom Group.

Last I knew Diane Feinstein work for us, not the White house.
Don't you care what the people think? Banning certain guns is NOT going to stop wackos from obtaining them. I do believe something must be done, mental health care needs to be funded,
and then maybe these people that are carrying out these crimes will get the help that they need.

This is not ok. If any one thinks that gun control is a good idea just ask anyone from Mexico how its working out for them. Drug cartels are running around doing what ever they want and no one is allowed to have a gun to do a * thing about it.
claytbuster   12/18/2012 21:20:02
With all due respect to Senator Yee, He needs to educate himself on just how many rifles have buttons or latches that allow for the quick chance of magazines. Especially non assault type sporting guns which include lever action, pump actions, and even bolt action rifles. We don't need any more feel good laws that accomplish nothing.
Kapt   12/19/2012 03:20:32
When will TPTB realize that tighter restrictions only hurt the innocent? The ones that do the bad don't care about restrictions. How about instead of making tighter restrictions we start teaching the value of life? Teach our children the value of life and promote a do no harm scenario. Leave the guns where they are and what they should be used for. Protection and survival. Not senseless murder

I have a semi auto pistol and rifle. There they sit, loaded, chamber free. Don't bother anyone..Just there..Of course Senator Feinstien has armed body guards paid for by us. She does,t need weapons.I have no body guards. I am an old man and can't fight well.I have,t shot anyone in over forty five years. I keep sharp with my weapons. As long as no one picks on me, my wife, or my animals..the guns are cool.Hopefully I will never have to defend my familyagaist a thief or drug addict. ..In my condition I would have no chance without the fire arms. I treasure the 2nd amendment.
wethehonestppl   12/19/2012 07:15:27
Some people are being responsible and see that we must discuss this.
It is a violation of people's rights to be afraid all the time of idiots with weapons, instead of trained professionals and soldiers. Some people know that we must not lose any more innocent people.

For goodness sake, real sportsmen are responsible.

Some people, care only about their toy.
Jojo   12/19/2012 07:59:56
Here we go again. Why doesn't anyone address Hollywood and video game creators in all of this? The movies coming out are outrageous with violence, they glorify it and de-sensitize it. The movies have gotten increasingly graphic and glorify shoot outs. Video games go to great lengths to create realistic graphics of people being shot and dieing. Guns are just a tool that has been around for 100's of years without the type of violence that we have seen recently. The difference is Hollywood and the video game producers have de-sensitized the younger generation and their parent's aren't teaching the morals that what is being displayed is completely wrong and shouldn't be glorified. Personally, I don't watch these movies and I don't let my son watch them either. Ban Hollywood, not guns.
Crockett   12/19/2012 10:06:58
Wow, sportsmen are responsible ? Why don't you tell your liberal leaders to fix their crime ridden cities.
Wackos starting with Cain will always be here, and he didn't have a gun. Our own country has the biggest arsenal in the world as a DETERRENT.

If you want to force something, force drop-outs to attend school so they will be employable. Force your leaders to enforce the Constitution instead of dismantling it.

What's more dangerous, a simi-auto gun or a station wagon filled with diesel and fertilizer driven by a smoking wacko liberal goth at 80 MPH towards your kids school ?
ludicrous85   12/19/2012 10:22:58
@macman.....you bring up a great piont about them working for us, unfortunatley that seems to have went be the wayside.

@natemoto.....you to bring up a great piont about the Drug Cartels. I grew up 8 miles from the border of Mexico in South Texas. My Uncles had hunting leases there. It has become so violent the gave there leases up and wont hunt there anymore. It has become a slaughtering ground of the Mexican people on the border towns. The local people in those towns cant protect themselves and the have little or no hope from law enforcement. It is against the law for civilians to own a gun in Mexico.

And, I hope your paranoid self never fires one of those weapons mistakenly at a member of your family, or a friend. That's the likely tragedy/consequence of having a loaded gun in your home.
mountainman   12/19/2012 11:03:01
Please people get your head out of the sand!!! No Ban will save anybody, what will it take for you to realize this? Murder is illegal.....how many murders were there last year? How many with banned weapons??................MANY!!
leaperman621   12/19/2012 11:32:34
He wants to outlaw large capacity gun clips. Hmm...who decides what is large capacity? Here comes the bullet button.
remington   12/19/2012 12:12:34
You say basically unless your a trained professional or a soldier your an idiot and shouldn't have a gun? People with your opinions truly amaze me.
Crockett   12/19/2012 12:29:24
We the people ARE discussing this. Too bad SOME people aren't listing or want to listen if it doesn't fit their idea.
I wonder if the Jews in Germany and Poland felt safe with the " professionals " having guns ?

Why is the government so QUICK to ban so called assault weapons when they weren't used in the evil Newtown shootings.

Obama called conservatives THE ENEMY. Union boss called for civil war. Liberal Senator calls for blood. Black icon calls for arrest of conservative leaders. Black Professor calls for white genocide.

I'll be keeping my gun as the president said " No matter what ".

PS: It's funny, birds of a feather DO fly together. Why do liberals want to live in a predominantly conservative county. Could it be the lack of violence, graffiti and safe streets ?
onward   12/19/2012 12:38:19
I also agree that our young people are being desensitized to violence through video games.

Some parents use the computer for "child care" and even brag about the level their son/daughter has achieved.

Look at the obesity of our teens, they should be out with friends, hiking and moving around, not hypnotized by the monitor.
iconoclast1   12/19/2012 12:43:35
From the non-gun owner/liberal point of view: "I care about people. I love. I'm empathetic, therefore my opinion has more veracity than yours". Negative. Your opinion, concerning the 2nd Amen. and guns is uninformed and based solely on emotion minus facts. Guns are good useful tools in skilled, trained hands. In hands directed by deranged minds they do not change. They are still tools. Tools used for evil purposes. If there had been a gun in CT in the hands of a skilled, trained individual on campus the scope of this massacre would have been lessened or stopped all together. This has zero to do with "sportsmen" and "toys". Against "rights" to be afraid? I suppose you can draft a law which insures no innocent people will be lost? Really? Countless innocents die daily...and you want a law?
leaperman621   12/19/2012 12:52:36
Blame people who own guns legally. After all, it would be wrong to blame the criminals who do not care about legality. Punish the good for the bad.

I think THIS says it all. And how twisted some people are.

steady   12/19/2012 13:58:58
@Jojo, you've hit the nail on the head. Plain and simple. But, common sense doesn't rule when liberal Hollywood and the liberal media are in bed together. Producers are making a "killing" on these games and videos, knowing full well that it's having a detrimental affect on some of our children's minds. Hollywood and the media are laughing all the way to the bank at the control they have over the American people and their appetite for blood, guts and gore. Especially when they can divert the attention from their creations to guns as the "problem." Guns are to be used for hunting, sport, target shooting and self defense. Hollywood and the media use guns in their movies and video games to kill, maim and hurt other humans for fun. When people wise up, refuse to buy the junk, we will improve.
merv   12/19/2012 14:08:42
If they think outlawing guns will stop the use for guns by criminals, then Im for it. while they are at it why not outlaw Meth and other drugs? Or outlaw drunk driving. Lets see if that works. If not then my guns stay with me.
FAILagainREPUBLICANS   12/19/2012 14:31:22
The 2nd Amendment was designed for STATE MILITIA's, not for the individuals. The poorly educated cannot understand this. I can't believe how afraid you all are. It's time to look forward, not back. The original Constitution did NOT grant these supposed rights. AMENDMENTS are CHANGES to the Constitution. Keep pushing it, and it will go to the Supreme Court. And how do you think that will turn out?

steady   12/19/2012 15:08:38
It's obvious that most on here are good, sensible, responsible folks who clearly understand the facts of the constitution and gun ownership. Democrats and Republicans alike are in agreement that guns are not the problem, and never have been. Liberals will never understand, don't want to understand and live in theory alone. They produce knee jerk reactions to sensationalized stories even to their own detriment. Facts offend them because they don't want to admit that they're wrong or misinformed. They can't understand or fathom that banning certain guns will not now, or ever, affect the people who want to kill with them. Just because you want to ban what the shooter used, doesn't make you more caring or loving than others, it just means you're a little less knowledgeable about reality.
whoknew?   12/19/2012 15:17:51
So I am suppose to give up my 2nd ammendment rights because someone else thinks It is a violation of people's rights to be afraid all the time of idiots with weapons? What was intended with the 2nd ammendment was to give me a fighting chance against a corrupt government before it takes away all my rights. We have rights taken away from us daily under all sorts of pretenses. Don't you realize that by giving up our 2nd ammendment rights we are playing right into a corrupt governments hands and that situations like the one we are faced with right now makes it easy for them to take more and more away from us? I for one don't want to be a sheep guarded over by soldiers and policeman who tell me what i can do and when I can do it every minute of the day. I believe in Law and Order, not a Dictator
