I remember the story. Now that theres a picture to put with the name it seems to double the tragic occurance. What a Beautiful young woman and daughter. So tragic. I hope they collect lots of money for the childs future needs.

Thanks but since I can't pass the boot for my causes, I will not give to your causes. Let me know when the American Diabetes Association can block traffic and "fill the boot" and we will be there! I hope none of the firefighters were injured running through traffic.

romeoq55 ~ Shame on you. Have you ever heard of "Do unto others"? This was a tragic incident in our community and as a small community, we should help when able. Let go of the bitterness.

The fire fee "Tax" was stolen from many families Christmas fund already.

Like leaperman621, I am appalled by some of these post. Its not about firefighting, but the death of a young woman and her child. Looks like a lot of cold hearts and Bah Humbug.

I may seem cold hearted but i sure understand the reaction. I also have been bled to death especially with the new fire tax. I have quit giving to charities, it is a matter of just trying to get by. Let the government take care of the needy, they took all the available money.

Typical response from right wing conservatives. This why you all lost the election, you only care about yourself.

Such a needless tragedy. I too hope they raised a lot, A LOT, of money. Understand some of the bitterness also.
Not too long ago, we posters were talking about raising reward money to catch a gunman who murdered an elderly family pet, Sid. It may have happened before, but it was the first time I saw people on here try to get involved of their own volition to do something to help a bad situation. Mymotherlode promptly shut the thread down with zero explanation. So much for catering to your patrons’ wishes.
Romeo, what a unique idea. Since nobody’s ever done diabetes fundraising before, go knock yourself out. Why do you need Sabrina’s blessing? That you show absolutely no sympathy for a little girl is astounding.

For those of you complaining about CDF’s, or whatever they fancy themselves these days (at your expense for the name change), new fee, I’m with you. The folks raising the money were USFS and have nothing to do with the fee. I’m sure not donating some spare change to a motherless little girl will really teach CDF a lesson.
CDF drives the red engines you see parked in front of motels, restaurants and grocery stores. Those soft beds, meals and groceries are almost all exclusively bought with your taxes. The green engines are rarely afforded such high profile parking spots. Their people have to sleep on the ground in fire camps, eat food provided by the lowest bidder, and buy their own munchies.
BTW, white engines are Park Service (unless they got a retardant drop, then they’re pink).

The ones that look like square neon tennis balls are BLM.
People in the green engines are usually pretty happy, people in the red engines often complain, well, pretty much about everything. They’ve even complained to their green engine counterparts that their hotel pillows were sub-par after the green engine people were forced to sleep on asphalt next to I-5 in LA. Without pillows. Naturally, there are exceptions, but not in 800 characters a shot or less.
Where there is no exception is the audacity of using politics against a toddler who has NO connection to CDF. Reread the article. My hapless dog will tell you I constantly rant and rave about articles only to find I missed critical information. Happens so often said dog has learned to snort at apologies.

UberPest, as moderator I have approved a few other suggestions for raising money to help out in various tragedies. The event and forum sections are free and available. Yes anonymous commenters can be harsh and that was why, after 99 comments the dog section was closed. Many, many comments had to be edited or deleted as personal attacks or because they were insensitive. The dog owner made the last comment and there was an explanation: http://www.mymotherlode.com/news/local/news_forum.php?ID=1879463&PAGEN_1=5

How heartbreaking. The FS has nothing to do with CDF/Cal Fire, so the fire fee is entirely unrelated. The FS is federal, and it's nice to see them do this. I've seen Cal Fire do a lot for good causes, but what people don't see is the FS workers volunteer regularly to pick up trash along the highway and when someone is going through a tragedy, they try to pitch in to help. It doesn't matter if it's state or federal, it's NOT a tax (give it a rest with the tax rage will ya), it's people coming together to help a little girl. Good job, people of TC! This is what I love about this place.

Some of these posts are very irresponsible and its hard to believe that the moderator has allowed them to be posted. Why are there attacks on people or agencies on this topic and attempt to tie to a totally unrelated fire tax? Some individuals took it upon themselves to raise money for a family suffering. BTW a "Fill the Boot" is a trademarked phrase and activity used by MDA and benefits those suffering from muscular dystrophy. It was established in 1954 in Boston. Look it up and read about it. In addition to funding reasearch nationally, there are children's summer camps held annually including one here locally in Groveland for children afflicted with the disease. Some of the posters here should go to youtube and see some clips of the smiling faces. You might change your view. Get educated

Conservatives actually are FAR more generous in donations than Liberals are.
Do some research.
Liberals are only generous with OTHER people's money.

To all the haters. What I want is let me and a group of my fund raiser run through the streets and stop cars for our causes. They will not allow it. I am tired of being held to a lesser standard than public employees. If firefighters want to have spaghetti diners, crab feeds or pancake breakfast or walk a thons, as my groups do, then great. But no special privilege's for government employees. Now I have to go, CAT UP A TREE!

Didn't mean to be mean, but I meant it. Perhaps we could have a story about how many people have been reemed by this anti-rural, DISCRIMINATORY fire fee. In fairness, the guys in the street not responsible for it and are just trying to help this poor kid. Thanks to all who donated, but honestly, my extra money is apparently going to "firefighting," which in the end means some paper pusher or union thug.

Romeoq55... who are you calling haters?
Who are you, what is your cause, what public employees? The FS, who is doing this for a little girl, does not do dinners, feeds etc... This is a little incoherent, but I believe the haters here, are those who are talking about anything than a nice thing done in this community for a little girl after a tragedy. It's remarkable.
This poison has no place in this conversation.
