Did she forget her food stamp card?

Very sad, as the Democrats destroy America hunger and desperation will grow.
I'm sorry she didn't seek food from one of the many Christian churches willing to help.

This is so * sad. What have we become? If I needed help, I would ask.
There is no shame in asking or receiving help, but only in assumptions..in taking. this compounds that. I don't know their situation...there could be mental issues...etc.
My prayers go out to this lady. She broke the law, but it still leaves an empty spot in my heart when I hear about people stealing food.

This woman and her son have a history. I doubt she was stealing due to hunger.

I have tremendous sympathy for people who have fallen on hard times, but Ms. Terry seems to be a criminal and nothing more.

She has money for gas but not groceries. She has a prior theft conviction, previously stole from this store and raised a 25yo thief wanted for felony parole violation. Her kid’s so sweet he threatened to kill his uncle—blamed him for “ratting him out” on a burglary spree he committed—who then shot the kid in self defense. Guess who paid his mediflight/hospital bills? Guess who pays more at the market because of her? There were ample opportunities for this woman to receive assistance and either hasn’t made the effort or can’t live within what’s offered. People in dire need of food are not charged with felony burglary.

Calaveras County has a quite excellent agency in the Resource Connection which works hard to provides food and other services all year long to those in need. During the holidays and beyond, residents are asked for financial support or donations for this and other worthy organizations which distribute food baskets, toys and gifts. The owners of this grocery store and others collect non-perishable food as well as warm clothing in front of their sites. Some fall through the cracks because of other issues but I can't help but think for others it is not about politics or programs and more about lacking a moral compass and acceptance of personal responsibility.

Whatever the reason is that this woman was stealing food, it's very sad. Is she menatlly ill? Is she feeling "lost and desperate"? Is she just lazy and doesn't want to work? I don't know anything about her, but it is sad in any case. Maybe it would help if grocery stores posted information near their front doors on how people could get food assistance?

At least she wasn't stealing beer and dog food like the last one. I would direct anyone in need of pet food to the local pet rescue groups, who will help. Interfaith will give you a bag of groceries and some seasonal fruit and veggies and AATCA also distributes food.
