Building projects should really pick up now....
Crockett   12/03/2012 15:25:56
One percent here, two percent there and on and on. Folks, the government already gets about 50% from the 52% that work for a living.

Feinstein once said here dream was an 85% tax and the Democrats would take care of us. Soon her dream will come true unless American remembers those famous words, give me liberty or give me death and put an end to this BS.

Oh Hell Yes!!!!!! We need another tax!!!!!!!!!!! I guess these clowns think we have stood for it this long so they might as well keep shoveling more taxes onto us. Funny thing is I think they might just be right LOL. More good news from our public servants. Hey who's serving who ????? fire tax, sales tax, property tax, school taxes, personal property tax, income tax, obama health care tax, gas tax, phone tax,1% sale of home tax to become effective soon as part of the Obama health care tax. I know there lots more I cant think of at this moment but these alone are enough to put you at poverty level even if you have a good job. I'm moving to Mexico.Let em have California........
imho   12/03/2012 15:42:33
Thank goodness this is not a TAX, just an "assessment". I love government, can I have another please? Guess I need to buy wood for the new chicken coop soon. Wonder how they are going to tax er.. assess those homegrown eggs.
grey   12/03/2012 15:46:03
A tax by any other name is still a tax. Glad to see the Legislature hasn't changed their stripes, and are doing all they can to stop new home construction, remodeling, and every other business we still have managed to hold on to.
redline   12/03/2012 15:55:16

leaperman621   12/03/2012 16:49:10
The govt said to the logging companies that they wanted a, @CUT@ and they would condescendingly ALLOW them to log.
jeffcanfixit   12/03/2012 18:59:53

badger   12/03/2012 19:03:24
Just wait it has only just begone more taxes for those of us who work and wish to improve our lives. We must all feel so privileged to pay for those who watch jerry springer. Now you all must understand it is you duty to pay for give away programs, the State democrats place this new tax on folk who purchase lumber, fence fell during the storms this week replace it tax yea!!!. Yet NO LUMBER IS CUT ON STATE LANDS, so why are we paying this again.
Devo   12/03/2012 20:21:11
This is a good thing, that's why many Republicans voted for it. Here's why: prior to this law if you wanted to harvest timber in California you payed a hefty fee for the privilege - around $1000. 2 problems with that: First, obviously the cost of the fee is passed on to consumers; and Second, and more importantly, it puts California timber producers at a disadvantage vs. out of state and out of country producers in the markets (in Canada for instance the government subsidizes lumber production). So, yeah, this looks bad on the surface but it's good for CA timber companies and we're already paying a fee even though it's hidden in the price of CA-grown lumber.
wldbill40   12/03/2012 23:22:56
Thank you sir, may I have another tax.
Coiler   12/04/2012 05:09:09
Way to help spur the economy "job makers"! good work! Here's one way we can all save some money. Legislators now get 50% less pay and benefits. I think we ALL agree on that one!
wethehonestppl   12/04/2012 07:51:09
Get over it, people! Times are changing. Whine whine whine. Are you still arguing to keep Papa Bear's taxes down?

Get composite. It's better anyway.
off2yose   12/04/2012 07:56:13
This bill was heavily supported by SPI and the California Chamber of Commerce. It will reduce SPI costs of planning timber harvests, while passing those costs along to lumber purchasers.
DJA   12/04/2012 07:58:17
It snuck in when voters voted democrat !!!!
wethehonestppl   12/04/2012 07:59:00
Hey, here's a good exercise. Why don't all the people who are whining, repeating the same thing over and over that they heard from their neighbor or Fox News, actually figure out why taxes are there in the first place.

Instead of the incredibly offensive, judge-mental and very uninformed assault on this group you call "moochers", why don't you do some research ad see how many people you know collected any money without "deserving" it. I know people in TC who get food stamps, collect unemployment etc. Able-bodied, perfectly healthy, good Christian, republican people. Suprised?

Also, did you know the majority of welfare recipients are in the RED STATES.

Perhaps you should consider what you get from your government, or do you take that all for granted?
TALK ABOUT MOOCHERS!!!
REV   12/04/2012 07:59:21
I stopped paying taxes 5 years ago, the government collects enough from me based on sales taxes, tolls and other BS taxes.

I've also found a work around for the ridiculous "death tax," you know the death tax, the tax where the government waits for your to die then taxes all of your money (which has already been taxed) again at another 35%. (Obama is proposing to move this to 45%)

Nothing like double taxation..or what I consider seizing of personal property.

Well, I can 100% guarentee the state and feds will not get one red nickle from me.
skidmoore   12/04/2012 09:14:04
With the newly voted in .25% sales tax and this new 1% lumber tax the cost of building a wooden structure just went up 1.25%. And if it's residential throw in the newly mandated sprinkler system for another $3500 to $8500 and you have a new drag on the economy.
Now if we go over the fiscal cliff plan on a 2% increase in everyone's income tax top to bottom. I'm sure glad we haven't been in a recession since June of 2009.

On a brighter note it looks like the law and justice center funding may be cut.(modbee) So that may help us from seeing even more local tax.

Wethehonestpply

And you quote sir "if these people are able body, perfectly health people are collect food stamps and unemployment" my question to you Sir is why are they not working. I know it the Republicans fault there are no companies promoting job growth, when our state Govt. is run by democrats. Better yet I like the plan to tax the people that are working and own something to give the entitled a free ride.
goodolboy   12/04/2012 10:39:47
