"Overreaching and unnecessary"? It's an OPTIONAL SHORTCUT for developers. Like most shortcuts, it may save you time and money, but you will have to deal with other constraints. This guide forces no one to do what it proposes.

Many people have been making comments like, "Move to the City if you don't like it" and "SOME people want to move up here and change it..." etc.

A lot of people were in fact born and raised here. People come up, not just for "Country", it is also "The mountains". We live near a beautiful National Forest, full of wildlife and beauty and recreational opportunities.

This is a shared resource, and a finite one; when it's gone, it's gone.

As someone who sees the natural beauty of this mountain home, I am so grateful for and supportive of groups like this who are the REAL conservatives here.

Thank you, for working so hard to keep money and production from quickly ravishing this place, even just by offering OPTIONAL SHORTCUTS.

People will always hate, and what's right is not always popular.

wethehonestppl - that's an interesting perspective, that conservationists and ecologists are the real conservatives. I had never thought of it that way before, but it makes a lot of sense. Not quite sure what that makes the "business as usual" folks, though - hardly "liberals", although I really dislike putting people into one or the other box. I think everyone is trying to conserve things in the way they best see fit, it's just that quite often our intentions seem to conflict, particularly when jobs and business come up against the desire to maintain a pristine environment. There should be room for compromise on both sides, it seems to me.

Of course there should be. I just want to repeat the words, optional shortcuts, and state my opinion that I am happy when people take an unpopular stance that is WELL WORTH considering.
