One cannot change one's sexuality. Homosexuality has existed since the beginning of mankind. One can't control who he/she finds attractive. A centuries old book condemned "one man lying with another man" as a sin. So we have been brainwashed into thinking this to be the truth. It is cruel, harmful mentally, and against modern medical practice to force someone to feel and think differently than what they were born to be. It's selfish parents who don't want gay children who send them to this cruel therapy. We are born they way we are. For those of you who believe the Bible, then you know that God created these folks this way and loves them just the same. Live and let live; other's sexuality has no effect on your relationship. Love is never wrong concerning two consenting adults.

The gay lobby has more power over minor children than their parents do.
The pro-choice movement has more power over minor children than their parents do. Anything to do with s*x, parents have no control anymore, those are sacred decisions made by minor children because democrats think children know better than their parents.
What if a kid wants to go through that particular therapy? Why do the democrats oppose that? Could it be that every "questioning" kid who chooses to be straight means a potential republican vote?
Before libs go ape on me, I oppose this kind of therapy too, but believe it is the choice of the parents and child affected, not the government or someone else's parents.

People have the right to waste money however they want. I feel sorry for these two boys who are being sent to the counselors by their parents. I would like to know if they have a relationship with their parents when they turn 18.

Common sense dictates that the government shouldn't prohibit any type of therapy that breaks no law and is wanted by the people.

What a terrible thing for Brown and the Democrats to deny therapy to people born with a birth defect. Whats next, no treatment for Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy or Cystic Fibrosis ?
Are any of these problems considered NORMAL ?
How about toddlers who were molested by gay's and grow up with mixed signals. Would you deny therapy for rape victims ?
I'm sick of the liberal's gay agenda. Now they are teaching our young children all about the bliss of being gay.

Its the dang PARENTS that need the therapy. To accept ones child or even live amoung the human race, I must not judge. I must love and be loved. I feel this is not
for the potential of "the vote" but the life
of the child in question, ONE can not "pray the gay away" and I dont just have therapy because I don't want to be GAY, acceptance of ones own feelings and a support system is what I need. If I am to become a productive member of society, and yet, I am GAY, the question remains "who, needs said therapy"

This shouldn't be on the AGENDA. The govt shouldn't be regulating how we THINK. I could care less for or against, it's just the govt sticking it's * nose in that bothers me.

Crockett - You are extrapolating many things. First and foremost, being gay, homosexual, transgendered, etc is not a birth defect. It has been shown time and time again that sexual orientation is a biological function. Birth defect is offensive in its own right and should be stricken from the books. Why is it so hard for people to just accept others for what they are. What is really normal? Please spare us the biblical implications. I don't expect gay people, transgendered, etc to make big shows of PDA (Public Display of Affection) no more than I care to see a heterosexual couple doing it. What you do in your bedroom or in your home is your business. But parents sort of have to come around to the thinking that lifestyles other than thier own are here to stay, it always has been.

This is nothing to do with the "gay agenda", it's about preventing child abuse. Trying to change a young person's sexuality is like trying to make a left-handed person use his right hand, which was widely attempted a hundred years or so ago (left-handedness being seen then as a "mark of the devil"). It was eventually banned in schools, after the psyches of many young kids were damaged by the efforts made by misguided teachers. Another name for the "conversion" therapy is "quackery".

SierraMatt, if it makes you feel better we can call homosexuality an abnormality or unusual, but don't call it normal unless your saying it's normal for SOME people to be born gay. Your lying to yourself if you think SOME heterosexual people don't turn to gays as a sexual perversion when liberals "promote" it as normal. There is a gay agenda. Part of that agenda is teaching our children about gayness. Yes, gay's have every right to do what they want in their bedrooms behind closed doors but that just isn't good enough for them.
Coiler, religious zealots ? You talking about the majority of people who created America ?
PS: I never said ANYTHING about religion and I never agree with your comments.

Squirter! If love isn't wrong when between 2 consenting adults, why is wrong if between 3 or 4 consenting adults? Why do those who favor marriage equality oppose polygamy and polyandry?
Whatever one thinks of this, leaperman is right. Government has no business in this.

Crockett I disagree that being gay is a birth defect. Come on man!I've known many gay people in my life, and for the most part it is inborn.
You do bring up an excellent point about kids who are molested by same sex perverts. They do tend to have much higher chance of becoming gay. That would be a good reason for this form of therapy. One other person mentioned it is child abuse to force this therapy on a gay child, but I'd counter that in instances of molestation, the therapy could reveal that child abuse and address it. This is a good reason for government not to ban it.

God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. The liberals and gay sympathizers are determined to shove their communist agenda down our throats. Our country needs to go back to the anti-homosexual laws we used to have, back when we still respected God's law. Obama and his communist pals that talk about equal rights are merely tryin to turn us all into homosexuals so that it'll be easier to take our guns.

How disgusting hypocritical. The most UNGODLIKE, and tyrant thing to do. People who talk about the Constitution, God, getting government out of their lives, who ALSO think that Government has any business keeping 2 PEOPLE WHO LOVE EACH OTHER from enjoying all the rights of a homosexual couple, is, well, ignorant and disgusting.
You want "government out" but in people's love-life and in women's medical facilities.
Hypocrits. How can you not see it? It's such a joke.

Rider, well-said. However, the more sense that is made in these discussions, the conversation will be un-responded to, or taken down, unfortunately.
Rider, I am amused how you come to these conclusions. But your comment about lobbies sounds pretty UN TRUE.
Source? Thanks!
Also, the people who "want" the therapy are the sad, parents. No minor should be objected to this.
Where are all the people talking about rights? "The Pursuit of Happiness"??
Prop 8 is sad and ignorant violation of the Constitution. Shame, California. Ignorance shall not prevail.

@Crockett, it's the Republicans who do not care about those (and unmentioned) REAL DISEASES!!!
That is by far the pinnacle of ignorance to compare homosexuality to these DEVASTATING diseases! You know what else, you don't even realize how you continue to make the counterpoint, just by your terribly ILL-CHOSEN words!!! Democrats care about people with REAL PROBLEMS!!! Hence, health care REFORM, or your ridiculous nickname for it.
Oh, who am I kidding thinking you will understand this, you probably voted for the gentleman that left TWO women (and cheated on his wife) with very serious illnesses.
I am disgusted, and again, this mentality shows itself for what it is.

wethehonestppl, you are very passionate and I see your frustration, obviously there are several who are also passionate on the other side.
We do our best to moderate, not take sides, and let opinions be heard.
In the end everyone is anonymous and sharing their opinion. There is value in stating WHY you hold your opinion to be true. Readers will judge for themselves if they agree with that "truth"
Insults at each other are pointless and will not be posted.
