Am I the only one who feels that this project is a colossal waste of money? I do not recall heavy traffic in this area prior to the bypass construction. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would educate me on why this was necessary.

The number of fatal accidents over the years in that stretch of hwy (Soulsbyville to Standard RD) is worth the money in my opinion. its not just one small area, its several spots through out. And yes there is heavy traffic through there, If you have ever tried to pull out of the side road onto the hwy there you would understand the risk you would be taking.
The homeowners were WELL compinsated for thier properties. It is a bummer the number of homes torn down and the families displaced, and the money spent but all worth it. Im sure the workers are happy to be getting a paycheck too.

Nay sayers.....quit whining, construction is underway.

If so many are opposed to the project, why were you not more proactive in the planning process? Be aware of future projects and organize others to provide collective input during the PLANNING process, these projects don't get approved and happen overnight.

It is reality now...live with it!

@another penny, I agree with you. Over the years they have been many Fatalities in both those spots.

I think the bypass will be made nicer. People don't remember before the bypass..Sonora was a mess..and that was back beforeall the shopping centers in east Sonora and a lot more houses.

I agree with you to a point. Electing the people who make these decisions or appoint the people who do during the planning process is all we can really do. After they are elected/appointed we can give all the input we want and be proactive, but they will do what they want. The solution is to vote them out or remove them from their planning positions, ...but we won't...
