So we are spending on the low side at $2.5 million $555.56 dollars a day on public employees?
And on the high side at $3 million,$666.67 a day on public employees?
Is my math wrong?
$3,000,000 divided by 300 employees = $10,000 per employee divided by
15 days = $666.67 per day per employee.

So $666.67 divided by an 8 hour day = $83.33 per hour per employee.

My children will work only for the government,I sure wish I would have.

I usually have to deal with the building dept...I'm glad they are off..less paper work..I wonder if they could do this for 50 weeks a year instead of one.Save a ton of money, nothing changes except there is less paperwork.

@cop:
$83.33 per hour per employee. Wow, I'd like to be seeing that! Reality is much less net pay, something doesn't add up, your math is probably fine.

Suspect this is partially the "fully loaded" salary equation, with the tributes sent to the state and the feds, and medical, as well as the extra cost associated with having the buildings running water, electric etc.

Maybe it is off by a factor of 10 - $8.33/hour is more like an average for what the line workers get net pay.

@hugh -there is a building dept for a reason....just because they are off for a week or so, when they return the paperwork will be waiting....unless you are doing the work illegally.

@ cop

Im sure that includes all benifit and pension contributions also. Im pretty sure not to many employees for Tuolumne County make $83.33 per hour. If you really want to find out all public employee salarys are public knowledge so you can request to see them. Might be wiser than getting your info from the media and then breaking out your calculator at home to figure out how much more everyone makes than you.

@cop: great numbers so let me add and if wrong please let me know. so if the county is trying to save money, what they do is take days away from jobs from those who need to work and some who can't afford to miss the hours but yet the county thought we could afford a new jail ect? I for one don't understand this pitcher at all. Seems with the county low on funds the jail should have never happened for any reason the these employees shouldn't have to worry about loosing income around the holidays and with a tax (fire fee) coming our way the first week of December. If your numbers are correct then I am at the wrong job! have a great holiday..:)

Furlough the administrators who don't do any of the work, but warm a chair.

Govt. Beurocracy and Welfare with all its trimmings will be the cause of this countries final collapse. With more people working for the government and on welfare than people working privately and paying taxes this country just can't support itself. Its a recipe for disaster and we all know it but I seriouslly doubt anything will be done about it.........
