Wait ! I thought that illegal fire tax was to cover the Cal fire costs !

So we pay our taxes which a portion goes to Fire Prevention and Suppression. We then pay the Governor's "We are Broke Fire Fee". Then if they have to do something we have to pay again? I have a hard time paying for stupid acts but when is enough enough. Aren't they still Public Servants?

The key to burning is to let us do it in a burn barrel!... Instead of forcing people to put it in the ground where it CAN get out of control!

During our 4 mile walk we saw a pile unattended. We knew they were watching it from the house but that makes me nervous. It was putting out lots of smoke since it was wet pine needles. With my asthma, not a good thing. When we were returning home there were visible flames so I knocked on the door and was greeted with , "yeah, we've been waiting for the flames...now it will burn better". I moved here 25 years ago,no asthma then. Due to a medical issue it is a hair trigger. So my days are spent inside during open burn hours. If only the grants were back for pine needle disposal at no cost. I guess I must pay the price if I want to live here. . . I thought pine needles on the ground during the winter helped insulate for the spring time plants?? I guess I was wrong. :) :)

If you start a debris pile and you lose control and it burns a neighbors property, you are liable for the damages and possibly some of the fire costs.

If you burn, be responsible. Keep the piles small and manageable, have hand tools available and water. If you are irresponsible and the fire gets away...it is your fault.
