I hope now the repairs and renovation money will be spent with local contractors and local distributors. Where the children and staff of Sonora High live.

I don't understand Joe Silva's math. He says their would be a savings of $300,000 over the next 2 years.
If he reduces his work days from 250 days a year to 50 days a year and gets $40,000 I see it as a $124 dollars a day raise, because he said it would save positions and employee cuts. So the money he supposedly saved would go to other employees so no savings, because the money would go to other employees right?
$169,887 into 250 days = $679.55 per day
$40,000 into 50 days = $800 per day
$169,887 - $40,000 = $129,887
$129,887 used to retain or hire new employees = $0 saved and a pay raise of
$120.45 a day for Mr. Silva.
Plus $154,000 in pension + $40,000 =$194,000 = a cost of $25,000 to tax payer. CALSTRS agrees with my math. Please show me where CALSTERS and myself are wrong Mr. Silva.

Is it funny how Silva never mentions the word consolidation. O I guess that would mean he would have to work for his money, I could never figure out what he exactly does for 167K a year. Why do we even need a county Supt. of schools, when the county is divided into separate districts. I'm sure one of his supports will chime in and tell us what his exact job it, or better yet may be he will answer direct. I guess all the facts are not in and his job title is still under investigation.

Fuzzy math (consensus math for some). Just like Silva saying he is taking less money when it works out to more....

This county has been good to Mr. Silva. To prove his intentions were good he should now say, I am going to draw my retirement and donate my time for the next 4 years towards consolodation or at the very least towards eliminating my position and putting my duties on the backs of the superintendants of the various school districts. Heaven knows they make enough to carry that weight!!!! If he has a good tax man he can probably come out just as good as he would drawing the $40,00 he asked for :-) Unfortunatly I don't think consolodation can happen because Sonora and Summerville would probabaly never go along with it :-(
