First off this has nothing to do with global warming. These companies will have to raise prices..The new cost will be passed on to consumers. Pretty slick way to raise taxes on Californians. I predict gasoline in California will be at least $2 higgher than surrounding states.

A company may choose to reduce emissions, buy carbon credits or leave the state with all its employees and tax revenue.

How did reducing greenhouse gases become a money maker? Do we need to change our unsustainable ways? Absolutely! But I just hope this doesn't back fire....I do like the idea of Eco conscience businesses getting a boost!! Whether people understand it or not, we need to take responsibility for what we are doing to this earth...scientists predict more wild, violent storms like Sandy are going to be the norm...its scary that we humans may have been the cause of Sandy!!!

If carbon emissions are so bad, why is it OK to sell or trade them rather than just have a limit? This is like saying the legal blood alcohol limit for driving is .08%, but if two of your friends are only at .03% you can drive at .18%.

This has got to be one of the craziest schemes ever dreamed up by the fools in Sacramento. It has nothing to do with reducing greenhouse gases and everything to do with revenue. Someone please tell me how this helps the environment? Is the day coming when you can purchase a permit to kill someone?

Simply asinine.Just another thing to make living more expensive,and what about all the other surrounding states....countries?What are they doing to save the air?

This is why businesses are leaving kalifornia,over regulation,over taxed,you name it,our government in action too destroy businesses....

This realy hurts the poor and middle class buy these costs being passed on to the consumer. A extra 20 bucks for electric is no big deal for the $250.000 class, but to some that are barely makings ends meet, its a big deal. The Democrats smoking gun! were here to help the middle class and poor and tax the 250 class, and were being green!. Look what realy is happening, rural fire tax, 1/4 cent sales tax, cap and trade. All this is realy not going to hurt the 250 class, its aimed at the poor and middle, and it ain,t over yet folks!

Anyone that thinks this is about the environment needs to drink another glass of Koolaid. This is about government control and picking the winners and losers(think Solendra over Chevron), supporting businesses that support you (think campaign contributions) and insider trading for personal enrichment (think Al Gore). Business will flee this state and just ship their products in, thereby denying the half wits that dream this stuff up any of the benefits they espouse. Wake up people!

Great going California, give businesses more reasons to move to another state!! I am leaving as soon as possible so you won't be collecting from me any fire tax (oh I mean fee), breathing the air fees and any other ridicules fees Moonbeam can come up with!!!

Any time someone says Democrats are "for the little guy", remember this day.

Not only will this Cap and Tax system very effectively kill business in California and further decimate our already horrible job market, it will also raise the prices of EVERYTHING; from gasoline and propane to diapers for your kid, food essentials, car parts, medications as well as services like oil changes, cab rides, tax preparation, and banking fees.
Basically anything you pay for will cost more because of this.

Remember the day, 11/14/12, when liberals put the final straw on the camels back and broke California.

Democrats care about nothing but money and power and this Cap and Tax system proves it.

....it will be interesting to see who they blame when this one kills the State....cant be the Right

It is so obviously a way to raise revenue for the government without saying they raised our taxes.
Anonso had a great example of how this does nothing for the environment.
