Arrests In Museum Robbery

Why is the CHP leading the investigation?

I'd be interested to find out how these guys thought they would be able to fence stuff like that. Large pieces of gold ore and uncut gems aren't exactly saleable, it seems to me. Also, there was a copycat robbery at the Oakland Museum last weekend - someone broke in and stole part of the Museum's Gold Rush exhibit - again, pieces of gold and gems. Sounds like these museums are easy pickings.

harveykeck,
It's state property.
Norseman   11/14/2012 09:07:12
@harveykeck: Because the crime occurred on State Property, and State Property was stolen. The CHP is the investigative agency for all crimes committed on state property. Same as if a crime occurred at a DMV Office.

mcarden, you notice they make no mention as to if they recovered any gold?Likely because the gold is in gold bars now....thats the travesty in this.....historic pieces are destroyed......for drugs

My thought exactly, mcarden; I follow the news and there have been many such robberies all over the USA. Millions of $$$$$$$ for the taking! Getting rid of the loot without being caught is next to impossible; Sooner or later they will get busted. That's the good news. How much time in jail they get for the crime, is the bad news.

There are crimes at DMV daily. It's a crime to have to wait an hour. it's a crime to be charged for their mistakes and it happens all the time. Glad the CHP caught up with the thieves.

@Crockkett.....Your spot on about DMV. I was in the Fresno DMV many years ago to recert my Hazmat. Their were a group of non-english speaking people taking their driving test. What was the clincher was they had a DMV book taking their written test like it was an open book test. Nobody at DMV never said a word. You could see the plan as day from the counter.

And no they weren't south of the border folks either people, FYI.

Pathetic about the displays being stolen. It's pretty cool to go into the Museum and see the displays and read about the hisory of the Mines and the men who mined them.

...gold is the easiest quickest mineral there is to move, completely unidentifiable

ludicrous85--this is off topic but I had to let you know that
we make our appointments prior to going to the DMV, never had to wait more than 10 minutes....have you tried that?

Now to the thieves...I was hoping they would get caught. So glad there was a camera to capture all their hard work...good work CHP! keep those criminals in line and in jail if you can
