Crockett: This is going to be in the middle of the night. 9pm to 5am. So traffic should be minimal. Its because they are putting the bridge forms in place, so the wait will be on the long side.

Does anyone else enjoy having to leave the house early, just to make it to work in time after being forced sit in traffic and watch dump trucks cross the highway for 10 minutes?

Why can't CalTrans or CHP insist that they not stop traffic during the morning commute say from around 7:30 to about 8:30 or 9:00, I'm sure they lots of other things they could be doing besides screwing up the morning commute.

I have a feeling that the 9p,-5a is wrong like it was last time. I sat in traffic for 20 mins one day. If I knew there was this much of delays wouldn't have wasted my lunch.. I think also it is a big waste of $$$ SHOULD be fixing our roads instead of making a by pass really? Just stupid

All the people who approved this were elected into their position at one time or another by you people, so blame yourselves. Remember the old saying, "Don't come crying to me..." Not having to travel those roads anymore, I find it amusing. Maybe where they end up having the bypass merge back in, they can also put in another McDonalds.

I agree with Last Word - they really are getting a lot done much more quickly than I ever thought and the view will be great. I don't like the cost and seeing more animals who were disrupted getting run over - but I think it is necessary to have this bi-pass extension, even if it prevents one more tragic accident it is worth it. I drive this twice every day and I don't know how many times, coming down the road, I was almost hit by someone trying to pass in that tiny passing lane around the bend. Even if you don't speed, it is a dangerous area.

How about some cheese with all that whine? There have been several deaths along with a number of serious accidents on that stretch of road in just the last couple of years. It's already being built, it will help in the decades to come, no bigger eyesore than when Twain Harte Grade was built, it's fun to watch, what's the big deal?

We need to spend $8million to relieve us of the Death Trap that stretch has become with the increased levels of traffic....While were at it,I'm looking for the positive and the view seems to be one.
Ever notice why Rancho Poquitos can't keep a sign on the corner of Via Este?
Cause people keep going through it and ending up in the ditch from that wonderful merge....

Uh..., it's one lane each direction. It won't make any difference to traffic now or in the future. Get a slow big rig or motorhome on the bypass and you'll have the same long line of cars behind it.
As for the accidents, you can say "dangerous" about anything to justify it. That's how they "justified" the signal light at 108 and Soulsbyville road, where you can see a mile in both directions, yet people still crash(ed).
You can't however fix any problem, when you ignore the cause and treat the symptom. For most deaths on the road the cause is bad drivers/driving habits. The reasoning in these posts for justifying the bypass due to the road being "dangerous" is the same reasoning as it is to say taking forks from fat people will cause them to lose weight.

@thrinnskaar, there is a Huge difference between a highway with lots of private drive-ways, roads coming on to the highway and pedestrians walking it and a highway with none of the above. Many accidents have been caused by people coming on to the highway with very little ability to see cars coming at 55 mph. Not everything labeled "dangerous" is to do nothing but justify someones actions, some things are dangerous and can be minimized. Inhaled any mercury lately? Go ahead, heat some up and take a big whiff, they just called it "dangerous" to justify stopping miners from using it.

@JOjo...simple solution...DON'T PULL OUT INTO 55 MPH TRAFFIC. Good drivers don't have this problem.

thrinnskaar, I don't have the problem but there are a number of residential housing on that stretch of road that don't have that option, their driveway or road end enters the highway, or are you saying that good drivers never have to enter roads where cars are going 55 mph, that would be an odd statement.
