My prediction, the tax will become permanent and thousands of illegal immigrants will continue to cost tax payers billions.
Next election we will hear the same threats against our children. California has the largest Mexican population and they vote for Mexicans here and in Mexico.

I agree with Crockett, and my prediction is the children will never see any differance, but there teachers and there unions will see more money plus bail out there pensions. Plus 30% goes to the general fund to bail out the Democrats spending addiction! Now we have prop 30, the fire tax, and the worse, a super democrat majority! look out Califonian working class and property owners. I,m sure prop 13 is in the democrats sites! the fire fee was just the start.

So by your reckoning, the way to stop Mexicans for voting for Mexicans in Mexico (you do have to be an American to run for office in the US), is to stop supporting public schools in California? That’ll teach ‘em.

Why does any discussion on taxes always come back to "illegals"? And why do illegals always get called "Mexicans"? Many of them aren't from Mexico at all, they are from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and other Central American countries, plus other non-Hispanic countries such as China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Russia, Haiti, Jamaica - practically every country in the world, in fact. Plus many of the people that you think are "illegals" actually aren't - they are full-fledged U.S. citizens like the rest of us. And they can vote, legally of course.

And the far right continues its glorious tradition of blaming "outsiders" for everything. Happens everywhere you look - Greece is doing it right now with the rise of the Golden Dawn party blaming immigrants for their economic problems. Reactionaries want to blame someone for their own wasted lives and societal challenges. Look, someone who's different, it's their fault!

UberPest and mcarden. "LATINOS" in this country illegally is costing AMERICAN tax payers billions at all levels of government, schools, courts, jails, hospitals, borders and on and on. The LATINO gang shootings in California cost millions EVERY DAY . 72% of the legal LATINOS vote for the illegal Latino's future not Americans. Simple math you should be able to handle. Billions to Latino's or billions to OUR OWN KIDS ! Democrats chose LATINOS.

Why don't we just hand over our paychecks? Come to think of it, why don't we just stop working and collect welfare like the other 51%? Give it a few years and watch the fireworks!!!

JRC - perhaps you could set an example and try living on welfare for a year, then come back and tell us how you feel about it. I don't think you'll find it is as glamorous as you think it is.

I read a conversation recently on a college chat board where students were openly admitting to marrying a friend from another country to make them eligible for grants and tuition decreases as non-citizens pay a higher tuition. I think instead of blaming we need to start looking at all the factors causing the problems.

As far as the Latinos go. Californias population is 54% Latino. More and More we are seeing that if a Latino runs for office they win. When California is being run by Latinos in the not so distant future they will have to sort out all the problems they have or watch what they wanted so badly fail. Its going to be interesting to see how it plays out. To be fair we aren't giving them much to work with. I don't really think its fair to blame any one group for Californias problems except maybe the politicians we elected...........
