If the numbers were posted here how many kittens one un spayed female could be responsible for most people who are unaware would find it absolutely impossible. I urge everyone to look those numbers up and also urge everyone to fix their pets.

Perhaps if cat owners obeyed the law and didn't allow their cats off their property they wouldn't have so many kittens. I'm tired of the banshee screams of cats outside my window at night and crapping in my garden. I trap cats in my yard all the time.
jaloppy50   10/31/2012 11:13:22
PLEASE FIX YOUR CATS DONT BE DUMB

The volunteers for Sonora Cat Rescue do a tremendous job in saving many feral and abandoned cats lives. For whatever reason, people just DO NOT get their pets spayed or neutered. There are low cost vouchers available for this. Please support this non-profit organization in any way you can as it will be very much appreciated and you will be helping to save an animals life. There are some real horror stories out there concerning animals...most of which you never read about.

If any of you can help this organization
I urge you to do so. They do the job most
people don't want to do. I donated a good
car to them not long ago, that's how much
I appreciate them for what they do. >^..^<

I could not agree more get your cat fixed. But thousands starving and freezing. I cant recall any cat skeletons laying around. Maybe a couple hit by cars. The real danger of feral cats are disease and they decimate the bird population.
XRS   10/31/2012 14:20:23
What law says you have to keep your cat on your property???
jaloppy50   10/31/2012 15:09:57
so crockett what do you do with the cats you trap
Ret Co Social wkr   10/31/2012 15:45:03
Good people excellent cause well run organization.
Crockett   10/31/2012 16:05:00
XRS, call animal control for details, cats fall under the same law as dogs or any other pets.
jaloppy50, trapped cats can be taken to animal control at any time of day or night if you feel like taking a chance you'll have to do it all over again. I hear they taste like chicken.

I got one of my Cats from Sonora Cat Rescue and he has been the best cat I have ever owned. Its a great organization that is run by people that donate their time and money. If you want a cat, don't go buy one that came from a farm, go adopt one from the Cat Rescue.

Or if you can, donate a few bucks. It helps a lot.
leaperman621   10/31/2012 17:07:18
Crocket.....
They DON'T taste like chicken. Felines taste AWFUL.
Now, dog on the other hand. Let's ask Obama.
leaperman621   10/31/2012 18:13:38
I hate it when people abandon their pets. People who do that should be banned from having children.
pbl   10/31/2012 20:27:38
@Crockett - cats do not fall under the same laws as dogs. Your "taste like chicken" comment shows your true character.
thrinnskaar   10/31/2012 23:13:33
The noise from cats is nowhere near the noise dogs make constantly all day and all night. I would rather deal with a cat than a dog barking all night and relieving itself on my lawn because it doesn't have the sense enough to use a prescribed area like a cat does. ...Also, a cat won't chew up all my furniture.
rider   11/01/2012 08:15:00
Lots of great comments here, however most of the unwanted births are due to ferals. I have trapped many, used Sonora Cat Rescue vouchers and got them fixed. This organization, their volunteers and donors are awesome.
Goodness Crockett, give the kitties a break. Call SCR or the Humane Society and get vouchers so you don't have to pay out of pocket. Be compassionate. Ask a kind neighbor to help in the effort. They did nothing wrong to be sent to their deaths at Animal Control.
I personally keep my cats indoors, but don't lack compassion for those without homes. I fix, them, feed them and provide them with warm beds. It's the American thing to do. A big thank you to SCR and FOAC. Please take the time to donate, if even $10, pet food or other supplies.
rider   11/01/2012 08:19:33
Yardner, thank you for your compassion and generous donation! I am poor, but donate what I can when I can. The volunteers do a thankless job and put their hearts and souls into it. And they don't take taxpayer money to do it. The same goes for all of you who volunteer and donate to help elderly people in this county. I love you guys.
Crockett   11/01/2012 12:11:04
pbl, I couldn't care less what you think my "character" is. You your statement proves ignorance. Call 694-2730. Be a responsible owner. My dog NEVER goes off my property without me being present and the dog on a leash. My dog is NEVER allowed to bark outside. If a cat or other animal causes him to bark he is brought inside immediately. You see, unlike so many out there, I'm a RESPONSIBLE animal owner. I won a court judgment on a cat owner who allowed the cat out and it entered my car and ruined a $2000 leather interior. I had a cat enter my car and sleep in the back seat. When I got in and started to drive away it jumped over my shoulder, scratched my neck as it jumped out the window. It's dead now. I shouldn't have to keep my windows up on a hot day because your cat is illegally loose.

Crockett
You are a good citizen. I'm glad you are a responsible dog owner. That makes up about 0.001% of all dog owners in this county. The typical response I get from most dog owners is, "Well, it's a dog, it's going to bark, what can you do?," which is completely irresponsible and a cop out.

I wish there were more like you who actually know how to control your dogs. I am just used to living in areas where people think the noise from their barking dog miraculously stops at their property line. Your statement about your dog not being allowed to bark outside tells me you are a person of great character. I hope people learn from your consideration.
rider   11/02/2012 09:00:12
Crockett, you say you won't roll your windows up during the summer because owners should keep their cats off your property? Most likely the offending (innocent) cat you cornered in your car who responded by attacking you was a stray, not owned by a human. Any animal attacks when corned, in an effort to get away from you. All you had to do was open your door and the cat would have bolted. Instead you got yourself attacked and then put human qualities on the animal, citing property rights. What about raccoons getting into your car? Do they respect your property rights? I have had them in my car because of the smell of a food wrapper.I didn't respond with anger and unreasonable demands on the animals. Many sane people simply crack their windows.
Crockett   11/02/2012 10:13:03
rider, I'll say it up front, I'm not a cat person. Again, I keep my car window down on hot days. I don't let animals dictate my way of life. It was a neighbors cat to be sure. I did open the door, how do you think I got in? Raccoons, never saw one during the day. My car doesn't smell of garbage.
Crockett   11/02/2012 10:32:48
thrinnskaar, we agree on little yet share the same distaste for irresponsible animal owners. Thanks for the kind words.
PS: I think many, if not most dogs (in neighborhoods) bark at cats that should be home instead of roaming.
