Challenging The Fire Tax

This fee is bogus, I must keep a 100 foot clearance that cost money to maintain every year and now they want us to pay $150 a year on top of the cost for the clearance.

yes taxes should cover that - if communities would actually step up and raise fire/EMS taxes to fund what they demand when they dial 911. But most local fire districts don't collect enough tax revenue to offer the types of services people now demand. A fire engine is $550,000 and must be retired after 20 years. A volunteer firefighter's personal safety equipment is $12,500 to meet calOSHA. A one engine response costs $850 per hour. CalFire is now the front line EMS provider in the state, despite not being chartered or funded to do that. Local communities need to fund their emergency services and control them locally.

I wish I owned a home just so I could file the appeal.
