This is so surreal...not right. You are missed so much...now you know just how much my sister did love you as well as realize how important you were to so many. We've just lost another good soul way too young. Fly high homie, i bet the view is breathtaking. Much love...

We went over the bridge as the search crews were looking for him. I would say best judgement was not used, the lake level is real low and it's a far drop. Don't have any idea why you would want to pull a stunt like this with those water conditions from that height.

rider...smart idea! o-no-bigguy...we as his family dont even know what he was thinking let alone anyone else. he was a paramedic, he wasn't an idiot, he wasn't mentally unstable...we dont know why its out of character for him. so he wasn't "pulling no stunt" and he won't be pulling any ever again now so anyone with a desire to add their two cents when now the only thing that matters is his family that is still living can get through this as quickly as possible so it doesnt wreck us again. understand? i hope so...i do thank you though because your comments couldve been WAY more harmful and hurtful. Bernie was someone you would've wanted as your friend, he loved HUGE!

hpybys9, you're right, no one knows what happened. By the way, comments from strangers are not important. I hope you come to peace with this.

I will forever miss you old friend. We had a lot of good times together and I will never forget any of them. You have taught me so many things, but the most important thing you taught me was to treat everyone around you with respect. This one lesson I took from our friendship, which has spanned 30 years, made me the person I am today. Thank you and rest in piece buddy.

Jennui - They recovered his body yesterday.
Ryder - comments from strangers may not be important as you say, but they still affect his family and friends. There is no reason to be rude, hurtful or disrespectful to anyone at a time like this. Bernie was an amazing individual who was loved and respected by everyone he crossed paths with. It is an unfortunate situation will always be a mystery.

My guess is he was the kind of man who loved life and a little adventure. I'm sure he had no idea that this would be the outcome. Try to appreciate the fact that he enjoyed his life & lived it to the fullest. Sounds like the kind of guy I would like to have known. Time does heal. Hope your time of sorrow & mourning is as short as possible.
