Gee, I wonder if it could have anything to do with the 40,000 prisoners the Democrats released into our communities. The timing is right.

Could have to do with the cops saying, "There's nothing we can do about it until a crime has actually been committed." Makes me a little sick to read that you should call if there is something suspicious & yet, when you do, the cops tell you to call back after you have been robbed & raped. I think we should all just start carrying a gun & then... we can deal with it ourselves!!

I hear more people complain about the Sonora PD than any other police department. I know their job isn't about making friends but maybe if they did it correctly we would have less crime. Harassing the elderly and high schools does nothing for the community but make them hate you, motto should be "collect and harass" not "protect and serve".

since i don't have time (too busy trying to make ends meet) to reasearch and study things in depth, it is my some what informed opinion that the rise in crime has to do with meth and opiate epidemics that are not being dealt with, as well as the syndrome of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
now that corporations have "a voice", it's like jessie ventura said..our system is simply one of bribery, and those who have the most money are making the rules..which of course benefit them.
personally, i feel most of "the 1%" is behaving in much more morally corrupt and reprehensible ways than these drug addicts who are just desperate to get another fix.

good suggestion i<3me. Let me know how you feel when you shoot an inocent person and end up in jail on a 187 charge or having the person take the gun away from you and use it...

Ab109 lets repeal it and build more prisons, hire more cops and make a 9:00 pm curfew. Then we will all be safe. And outlaw booze and drugs....oh wait drugs are illegal. How can people still be doing them? We need more laws rules and regulation. I say mandatory drug testing for everyone on a weekly basis. If you fail one year in jail. That will create jobs and keep us safer and get the druggies off the streets. And lets lower these crazy speed limits we have why we are at it. 65 miles an hour!!!For the love of God who needs to go that fast!

@Crockett
The prisoners were released because the courts told the State Of California to reform the CDOC a long time ago. Arnie and others both Dems & Rep choose to thumb their noses because they thought it was a slam dunk that it would be reversed by the Supreme Court.
It wasn't.
There is PLENTY of blame to go around on this from every side, angle, between and betwixt.

Crime is up because people cant take care of themselves in todays economy. They steal to pay debts or take care of themselves. Is it right?? Absolutely not! But, this is how todays society is playing the survival game.
How stupid to regulate all those unnecessary rules like "cop" said. You know, its people like that guy who change the world for the worse. 10-20 years ago, there wasnt any people crying out about every little issue. That the world wasnt offended by petty, stupid things. Like the other day, some website posted about kids in bikinis. Wow! Who the hell cares? Why is something like that soooo offensive nowadays? If we could go back in time, thats when everything and everyone didn't take such offense to every little thing that occurs.

smokin_aces, a little research indicates not only are the majority of those in prison Obama supporters but it was a liberal court that wants them released. I don't think the liberals went along with anything Arnold did except void Grays 3x's increase in auto registration on day one. Just who are the majority voters in California and who commits the majority of the crime. If you didn't guess liberals, your wrong. Read this link for a week and see what life is like in a community overwhelmed and run by Democrats.

korkette, are you kidding? I come from a poor family, and none have stolen to make ends meet. We lived within our means. If some scumbag swipes my GPS, I'd never assume he needed it to make ends meet in this economy. There are numerous programs to help the needy. Food stamps, USDA program, reductions from PG&E, even free propane, and lifeline/ AT&T. Low inc housing, section 8 housing, Interfaith gives out free clothes/household items.
Being poor doesn't make one a thief. Having poor morals does, and an attitude that the person they steal from has more, therefore it is justified.

Hey Fruity! A one percenter just paid me for a job I did for him, and I made my house payment with it. I earned that money, instead of sitting home whining about how unfair it is he has more money than me or had a better education.
You are right about the thievery to get meth, unlike korkette, who thinks law abiding citizens steal to "take care" of themselves. Yeah, to take care of their drug habit, as if it is the drug's fault, not the idiot who got hooked.

People who can't or won't work have no hope, only dispair. This leads to an endless cycle of drug and alcohol addiction. Taking from others is how they support their habits. I'm not justifying stealing from hard working people; but locking them up doesn't seem to be working. As soon as they get out, it's right back to doing the same thing. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Easy guys, I don't thiink Korkette is justifying the actions of those committing crimes but rather that when an economy is tougher, more crime will occur. And I hope we can all agree that these would have been individuals without a strong moral compass to begin with no matter their income. Seems like we're all saying much the same thing - lamenting how our society is unravelling. Before the meth epidemic, pre gangs in suburbia, when single parent households were the exception, when we took care of our own within our families and did not expect the government's help, when we understood we had to work hard & learn a trade or go to college to get ahead. I can't begin to explain or understand all that has happened in the past couple of decades but it's as if we have lost our way.

Yes, thank you bookldy209. I'm not justifying stealing one bit. I've never done such and yes, i'm part of the poor. I've been on the states assistance at one point. However, finding and getting a job was more important than being a welfare case.
And to "cop" I got the sarcasm however its just things that were said...is how todays society thinks. Its AWFUL!!! Have you seen the religious outrage online today for an evolutionary Dr. Pepper ad?? WHO CARES?! Its soda!!
And I like how up here (tuol. co.) theivery automatically associates with drugs! I've known many people to steal, and they didnt even buy drugs...they were stupid enough to buy unnecessary material things(clothes, motorcycles, jewelry) and of course, got caught. But the minute someone steals up here...it MUST be for drugs! LOL
