Online reservatios are still closed for months at a time for popular State parks due to so called budget cuts preventing timely maintenance. Please call your local State repressentatives if you encounter these issues. Enough shenanigans.

Maybe Tuolumne County should have an audit also to see where Pedro is hiding money?
aaron   08/09/2012 10:42:37
300,000 bucks to look into how they hid (I mean found)millions. Here is the answer:the system is to big and run by crooks. There, I figured it out and will only charge you 150,000 dollars.Done, move the money into individual park accounts and let each park spend them the way they need to.

The whole USA is full of thieves. Audit every account till every penny is accounted for. Fire all the dishonest you can find and the big boys who quit before they got caught need some charges brought against them. Do not let them slide on this. When the audit is done, give the parks their money and all other organizations their money who have it coming. If our state would take this an make an example out of these higher ups and clean up their own house we would be in much better shape. Shame on all those who are suppose to be making life better for all of us Americans with our own money.

They steal when they are caught...and when they aren't they steal more.
300,000 will balloon into millions. Too bad we couldn't take all of them..stuff em in a rocket and shoot them into the sun.

Anyone (past or present)involved in this mess that's found guilty of committing a crime, should not only be fired but also lose their pension. They can get back any contributions they made to their pension fund but that's all they should get.
VoteTheConstitution   08/09/2012 21:09:04
Can we audit the state too, not just the state parks?

I think Rudyard Kipling stated it best.

We are very slightly changed
From the semi-apes who ranged
India's prehistoric clay;
Whoso drew the longest bow,
Ran his brother down, you know,
As we run men down today.

"Dowb," the first of all his race,
Met the Mammoth face to face
On the lake or in the cave,
Stole the steadiest canoe,
Ate the quarry others slew,
Died—and took the finest grave.

When they scratched the reindeer-bone
Someone made the sketch his own,
Filched it from the artist—then,
Even in those early days,
Won a simple Viceroy's praise
Through the toil of other men.

Ere they hewed the Sphinx's visage
Favoritism governed kissage,
Even as it does in this age.

Who shall doubt the secret hid
Under Cheops' pyramid
Was that the contractor did
Cheops out of several millions?
Or that Joseph's sudden rise
To Comptroller of Supplies
Was a fraud of monstrous size
On King Pharoah's swart Civilians?

Thus, the artless songs I sing
Do not deal with anything
New or never said before.

As it was in the beginning,
Is today official sinning,
And shall be forevermore.

We should let them raise our taxes some more, so they would have more money to play with... or not.

Eliminate the State Park System. they claim to be a law enforcement organization, but are the laughing-stock of the legitimate law enforcement people. As it is now, they call the Sheriff's Dept. when they have a problem -- they know how incompetent they are. They have made a complete mess of my hometown, Columbia, and are utterly detested by the locals. Replace the system with qualified managers and contract out all needs. Example of incompetence (one of hundreds); six months to roof the Columbia House restaurant, and then having to repair it before it was completely finished. Trying to do business with them is an absolute joke. A team of three competent managers could handle any state park. I worked for them in the late fifties, and it was entirely different then, and they were respected.

300,000 dollars to audit obvious fraud. How about we just prosecute... save a little money and loose the crooks. Last thing we need is to dump a bunch of money on another "panel" to investigate something so blatant. I can't say I've lost my faith in the government after this, because I lost my faith in my government back in the 1900's!
mairalargo   08/12/2012 10:40:07
Seriously? Millions of "extra" cash "found"... Why tell us now? Was money "found" before parks received grants to stay open? Will the state give Sonora Area Foundation (SAF) their money back, so that can help another entity? Will Jane tell Jimmy the baby's not his? Will Jimmy tell Jane he's really a woman? Will this ridiculous soap opera never end?

As much as I'd like to believe this is truly a windfall & will circulate back into the general fund ethically- I can't. I'm still waiting to hear what happened with the psychologists at Sierra Conservation Center found to be milking the system by getting paid, handsomely, for time never worked; either by "charging" the state or, flagrantly, "taking work home."

What is more sinister in politics than the words Republican or Democrat?

"Shh..."
mountainman   08/13/2012 12:08:38
mairalargo "What is more sinister in politics than the words Republican or Democrat?".................LIBERAL
mairalargo   08/13/2012 16:07:32
No man on a mountain, it isn't liberal; it's more like ignorant. Because my post clearly slung mud at both parties & as per usual, you demonstrate the inability to see that greed & corruption is a disease in American politics that cannot be inoculated with bias.

Unlike retired Republicans living off pensions, SS & all LIBERAL programs those on the edge of extreme refuse to admit they receive while bashing "socialism" & all its evils- I work for a living. So when I hear about "extra cash found" from cash-strapped CA that kills education; hopes of raising minimum wage; keeping unemployment high- I don't keep my head in the sand blaming ONE party; that solves NOTHING. Not until all citizens realize how we've been duped by people on BOTH sides of the aisles- will we ever get out from under.
VoteTheConstitution   08/13/2012 21:27:22
mairalargo as long as this country continues with the "big government" mentality we're going to see more and more corruption. It's a simple fact reinforced by thousands of years of world history. More power = more corruption.
Coiler   08/14/2012 07:02:29
mountainman...."what is more sinister in politics than the words republican or democrat...... CONSERVATIVE.
