Waste Management doesn't need a raise! They are raking it in.

I love how everything is going up except wages.

You got to be kidding me,when is this going too end!!!!!can't they cut spending first,that should be on the agenda,the last option should be too raise rates,this smells bad,pardon the pun....

I don't really care, i usually just drive down the highway untill i find one of those 'Adopt a Highway" signs and just fling it out the window......gives those nice folks something to do....it makes them feel needed.

And they wonder why people are leaving the county. Let me just say: DUH! I'm sure we'll see an increase in trash on the roadside... ravillata, a regular poster here, freely admits to it. How many other careless, thoughtless individuals will do the same? Or the *really* high class citizens will just start their own junkyards or add to their existing junkyards. Yeah... Tuolumne County, County of Classy Citizens!

Let me get this straight...

I recently bought a house in the Sonora city limits. I started trash service. I met the garbage man, and he told me that "if I put water, soda, or gift cards" on my trash cans that he would look the other way when we had "extra" trash or trash cans that were heavy, and that he makes at least $500.00 in gift cards from my neighbors at Christmas...and not to forget him.

Now Waste Management wants MORE money?!? Really?? I've gotta worry about this garbage man extortion and pay more?? I've asked around, and it's not the first time he's said this to people we know. Nice.

Yodad - I don't have excess trash, so why should I feel obligated to reward someone for doing their job? This isn't the 1950's where the garbage collectors had to get out of their trucks and physically sling the metal trash cans over into the trucks...it's all automated, press of a button.

Didn't the rates just go up? What happened to the competition? This county is insane!! As soon as the kids graduate from high school, the wife and I are outta here! We're sick of the way this county is so corrupt! This whole Waste Management boondoggle is criminal!

@RemoteController, I was only addressing the taking away of extra trash, not regular p-u. I think he was saying in the event you had extra he'd take it away for a "small donation".

Why is every thing going up I haven't got a raise in over THREE YEARS! Plus I give Waste Management all my glass ,cans ,cardboard ,plastic bottles ,Doesnt that count for something !. And I get a small can for trash plus I pay 50.45 every two months!

Unethical acts have departments to report to; look on your bill to find corporate numbers because a local office can find ways to bury trouble. It isn't uncommon to tip service, especially during the holidays, but to be so uncouth as to verbalize its expectation seems over-the-top.

WM makes bank off recycling & the "free" cans is a scam more blatant than garbage men w/o integrity. All recycling, along w/precious commodities customers drop off, like brass & copper, have a sweet return- w/o paying one cent to those who bought it & then spend time & gas disposing of it.

In business, upper management receives bonuses based on worker production & money they save- a bad manager will exploit that. WM is expendable w/a contract beholden to the city; only compliant citizens enables it to stay.

You got TUD, PG&E, WM, City, County, State and Obama, all what to get into your pants for a little extra. It's time to say NOOoooooooooo! It's not that we don't like them or respect them, it's because it is time to show them the "tough love". If we didn't love them we wonldn't care so much!!!

ravillata -- if the shoe fits... seriously, SOMEONE -- no, multiple SOMEONES do through their trash and unwanted furniture on the highway. I don't know you from Adam, and your post was not worded in a tongue-in-cheek way. I'll tell you what you can do with your bridge, however...

Where is all this money to pay for rate hikes supposed to come from? Who has gotten a raise in the last few years? This is getting beyond ridiculous.

Sarcasm doesn't translate to text but the moderators know ravillata is sarcastic. Also ravillata is one of only two people who have over 1,000 posts. Leaperman is top commenter, the next are mountainman, Top Shelf, metalbill and fruity pebbles who only has 680 ish. (That doesn't count deleted comments) ravillata and Leaperman are occasionally edited and deleted mostly for their biting sarcasm.

Sabrina, you are correct, i am sarcastic...however when people are unrealistically idyllic and are all "rainbows and lollipops" i like to shock them back to earth with an equally unrealistic option, like keeping the nice adopt a highway people busy. However, some people are so far in the clouds they think i would actually do that.
We are the consumers, WM is a business. Just do like i do, i don't do business with them.
Most of the time i know when you are going to censor me, but i still post it for your amusement.
