That is so cool. Good positive story for our small town. Good job kid.
Congratulations Alexander and Ashton!
Once upon a time we raced soapbox derby cars down Stewart Street. I'm glad to see the sport revived and getting community support.
It's nice to see some happy news amongst all the bad in the news lately.
GOOD JOB!!!!! GO-KARTS NEXT?
Good job kid, great news for a change, this made my day..
Now that's awesome... This is exactly what this area needs, this is the kind of thing that the county could latch onto, build an annual event around and start to attract people from all over the country to compete in an event.
Hotels, restaurants and business would be full all weekend as participants and tourist flock to Tuolumne County for the annual Soap Box competition.
In Ferndale they have an annual derby...
Maybe we should have one on mainstreet Sonora?
It gives the kids something to do, and shows community support....also helps the local stores.
So nice to read positive things about a couple of our local young men. Congratulations, Alex and Ashton, and to your parents and family as well. Achievements like these don't happen by accident.
OMG!! National Champions!? From our modest community!? This story boosted my confidence 1000% in our future as a community. What I see as contributing to their success is support from their families and community. But the children built their own soap box cars which showed me and themselves that they can do all they set their minds to if they work hard and stay focused. Hard work and dedication do have rewards regardless what our President may tell them. Congratulations, kids! I want to see where you guys will be in twenty years.
There has been a local soap box derby during the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee for the past few years and these kids go on to district and regional races.
nice to see a local boy do well, great way to represent your town!
Good job! Congrats to the whole family!
