Change the name to Responsibility in Governance and I'll attend.
TripleT   07/03/2012 12:47:41
I applaud Supervisor Royce for being part of the change we need in Tuolumne County and his efforts to get other young people involved. What a wonderful example he is for the younger generations.

Mr Royce, I'll be there !!!
richwheeler   07/03/2012 12:58:28
At this particular point in history, a better name might be "Counter-revolutionary."
smokin aces   07/03/2012 13:04:58
@leaperman621

We are the government.

If people do not think their elected officials are resonsible, they have the power to vote them out and replace them with those we think will be responsible.

That's our system.

The fact that the system is corrupted by lobbyists, special interests and outside influences is a totally different subject lol
FailBamaSux   07/03/2012 13:10:02
The change we need is to get rid of FailBama, the miserable failure in the White House, and replace him and the socialists in Congress with law-abiding citizens that have read and understood the Constitution.
Top Shelf   07/03/2012 13:11:34
"We want to inspire young people to show up and start taking responsibility for our future." Why should they be responsible for our future, as well as their own? We all need to be responsible. It starts with returning us to a tax code that is fair, provides upward mobility for those willing to work for it, and penalizes those that harm our economy by gambling.

Our national debt began piling up in the early 1980's. Those of us that sounded an alarm got shouted down by the likes of Dick Cheney who infamously said: "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter." The Reagan "revolution" began the trickle-down theory of economics that has failed us for the past four decades. Look at the trend of any economic indicator over the past fifty years and you will see this clearly demonstrated.
pondering   07/03/2012 13:23:50
This sounds suspiciously like a tea party rally....
Blag   07/03/2012 13:42:58
The intention sounds good by Mr. Royce but I noticed "dignitaries planning to be on hand include Republican Assembly candidate Rico Oller". There will be no change as long as there is just Republicans and Democrats. Republicans of today are just Democrats of 12 years ago. Both sides want more laws on the books, more restrictions, want to spend and spend the money WE earn on pet projects, buying votes and appeasing special interest groups. Its the same old talk that you hear Obama and Romney spewing. No one realizes that both parties are failing miserably because the masses are blinded by their teams colors. Hopefully one day people won't look at voting for other parties (such as Libertarian) as throwing their vote away. Voting your conscience is never throwing your vote away.
leaperman621   07/03/2012 14:26:32
I'll show. I like Royce. He's been responsible, unlike some.
mairalargo   07/03/2012 14:40:52
Hmmm...
squirter   07/03/2012 15:45:15
I agree with pondering; this sounds like a right-wing political rally because of the party affiliation of some of the attendees. Wonder if there will be folks there bashing the left and it's policies such as the health care act. Just thinking out loud.
DoubleD   07/03/2012 17:16:22
The real revolution is Ron Paul 2012, never ever give up!
dougl   07/03/2012 17:32:52
The Constitution according to who? All of this drivel about Obama being a Socialist and his Socialist agenda are starting to wear a little thin these days. I don't think anyone can prove these allegations without using the unproven hystrionics that spew forth from Fox News. Obama is a Capitalist, not a Socialist. According to the Constitution he does not make law, he can only sign bills into law or veto them. In any case Congress can overide either choice. Congress introduces bills/laws and they are voted on in both houses, only then do they go to the president for approval. The Supreme Court decides what is Constitutional as is their job per the Constitution. Many people need a lesson in government before they spout off nonsense promoted by people who have not really read the Constitution.
smokin_aces   07/03/2012 18:36:22
The problem with the constitution and politicians Democrat OR Republican is that they preach it's virtues only when it benefits them politically.

The rest of the time it's just another piece of fishwrap.

Evan is a Good Guy and a reasonably good Supervisor. He seems to stand up for what he thinks and isn't one of the Good OL Boy "Business as Usual" types either. I hope he sticks around Tuolumne County for a while and continues to help out here instead of aspiring to be a Professional Politician............
VoteTheConstitution   07/03/2012 21:49:42
Well they haven't told us what the rally is actually about, so uh, I'm not going.

@Top Shelf
This is what is causing our country to fail:
http://www.libertyzone.com/Communist-Manifesto-Planks.html

Stop blaming Conservatism for the problems caused by the policies of "progressive" Democrats.
mairalargo   07/03/2012 22:48:21
Pondering- my thoughts exactly, especially if those in attendance are the those who attended Evan's campaign picnic in Tuolumne City park for a "meet & greet" prior to his being elected. It'll be Tea Party Palooza!

I know Evan. I like Evan- but not his politics. I encourage the youngin to get involved locally & beyond; better this in the news than kids in the News of Record... yet diversity is a necessary component to a healthy democracy. With the "good 'ole boys" club running Tuolumne Co, he might be grooming himself for the coronation of the cowboy hat as aging cowboys near retirement.

If I leave work early enough I'll attend, incognito, but I'm purty sure the crowd is predictable. And w/traditional July 4 festivities to be had, most folks, young & not-so-young, may be out of town.
LAST WORD   07/03/2012 22:52:10
Candidate as dignatary????? AGENDA.....
leaperman621   07/04/2012 04:31:21
Rico Oller
INdependent party
Now the largest party in America....but not listened too.
Good work...idiots.
soleo   07/04/2012 06:37:10
While I applaud Royce's expressed desire to encourage young people to become involved, I am concerned that his agenda is clearly partisan. What we also need to encourage our young to do is to educate themselves on the basics of citizenship -- actually reading the documents which underpin our nation's creation, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution AND the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers, would go far to help them understand that civil discourse requires looking at all sides of the issues and trying to understand those diverse perspectives before rushing to side with single-issue ideologues which results in demonizing those who do not share those views.
rosedoc   07/04/2012 09:34:47
@blag, nope, you've got that backward. Republicans of today are not just Democrats of 12 years ago--Democrats of today are Republicans of 12 years ago. It's well documented that the right wing has gone off the cliff to the right and the left wing has moved right, more toward the center.
@pondering, that's exactly what this is so why do they try to hide that fact?
iconoclast1   07/04/2012 11:29:21
Politics be * ....It's a great day to celebrate our independence from a despotic ruler and a reminder that governments with too much power over the people will eventually turn to despotism and tyranny.

We are there now and very few are willing to accept that fact.

At least show up if you love your country and listen to Katie May Hart sing our National Anthem!
rider   07/04/2012 13:29:42
Hey Top Shelf, we aren't talking about Reagan or Bush. Your boy Obama has added 5 trillion to the national debt but I haven't heard a peep out of you about it. FIVE TRILLION just over the 3 year mark. Bush had 911 and costly wars, and he racked up 5 trillion in 8 years, which was unacceptable and lost him the support of many conservatives, libertarians and independents. If you oppose massive debt increase, you should oppose Obama in November because he's got much more debt planned. How can we possibly sustain this massive spending TS?
ecr   07/04/2012 15:30:07
Since when has the 4th of July become a right wing holiday? I thought everyone liked freedom and liberty? I understand this to be a celebration of the American Revolution and the founding of America. The american people need to come together and stop the fighting. The posts on here that express suspicion should not be so quick to react. Just show up and see what it's about!!!!
