Deputy Fires Gunshot

Previous Posts for this Topic

Send the deputy to FrontSight for a four day handgun class.
If the deputy didnt hit the suspect, he hit something else. And as there were witnesses in the area, the deputy is * lucky that the 'something else' was not an innocent bystander.

so much for center mass, wow.

Sabrina - Title should say "Deputy Fires Gun". "Gunshot" is a description of the sound.

Sounds like the "witness" would make a better sheriff than the one with the badge! Can they pay the witness for doing the Sheriff's job?
What kind of trained professional fires a gun from inside an enclosed space? Of course he has ear damage!
o-no-bigguy   07/02/2012 12:27:48
Bet he had to change his shorts.

I'm sorry but it seams that a script for a episode of the keystone cops was posted as a news story by mistake..what..this really happned?

Guys we should discontinue the accuracy comments until more facts are known. We don't know how far the subject was from the patrol vehicle and if the deputy had to fire through the windshield which would cause the bullets to drop substantially and be far less accurate.

NEVER point a gun at an officer.
John_Smith   07/02/2012 17:54:39
Sonora PD:Shooting random people while citizens disarm shooters.
ravillata   07/02/2012 18:30:26
Fire thru the windshield ??...ROTFL...Keystone Kops is what it is.....you get what you pay for.
JRC   07/02/2012 20:36:49
We can stand back and criticize a deputy's actions, but we weren't there. Kahuna hits the mark regarding more firearms training. When an LEO draws his weapon he should be prepared to drop his subject. More range training should be mandated by the department.
calisdad   07/03/2012 07:39:49
If firing through a windshield is your best shot you don't have a shot.
Goose   07/03/2012 09:59:47
I'm amazed by the people who post without reading the story. Sonora PD? Through the windshield?
syclone1445   07/03/2012 10:26:11
So you would let a subject draw a shotgun, Point it at you, and if you were in the patrol car you would get out, draw your handgun (a far less powerful weapon). All while being unprotected? I know each and every person commenting would have triple tapped the subject. Two in the chest one in the head, right? Every situation is different and not enough is known about this incident to make negative comments forward the officer.
leaperman621   07/03/2012 14:12:23
I think the sheriff's dept should all carry mossberg pump actions. Even up for the meth heads.

Training is always a good thing...never such a thing as TOO MUCH gun training.

Gotta agree but the do they ever read the article. What was Sonora pd doing in valley springs?
I agree most of them need more range time but unless the rest have actually fired at a person in a moment of butt puckering excitement then they need to shut up.
Lets wait and see what the final story is. I am not a cop or always an automatic supporter of them but shall we wait and see what the final analysis is ?
ravillata   07/03/2012 15:51:39
Triple tap also called a failure drill.....failure of the person to go down....I sure would have dropped him but the'thru the windshield' concept is hilarious.....shows lack of knowledge and experience and common sense.
ravillata   07/03/2012 17:24:31
LOL....i think all the negative comments were directed toward the knuckle headed idea of shooting thru the windshield which wasn't mentioned in the article.
ravillata   07/03/2012 21:03:40
goose...I of course thought the 'thru the windshield' part was made up since it is so absurd but the follow up article confirms, Deputy Fife fired twice thru the windshield at the suspect. OMG!
AirborneCav   07/04/2012 08:20:53
You guys criticizing his aim are pretty lame. Its a little different shooting at someone when they surprized you with a shotgun pointed at you. Of course you would have hit him one handed, hanging out the window, and would of had ESP to know that he was gonna come out the door with a shotgun to greet you as you were pulling up. Also that deputy's tactical skills with his firearm is much better then yours. We give officers weapons and the power to protect us, but it seems that everytime they use that power people cry and complain. Im glad he missed or his life would of changed because he killed someone. The situation was diffused and turned out ok. We all cant be Jason Bourne or Dirty Harry like you guys. Cut the guy some slack. Jeez.
remington   07/04/2012 13:29:01
yeah it must have been cover fire....
nab   07/04/2012 23:40:11
Just glad a peace officer got to go home safe to his family after his shift....how would you ones that are talking negatively about him on here feel if you were his wife or dad or son?? My father is a peace officer and this just ticks me off....
ravillata   07/05/2012 22:20:04
Airborn....I worked with a guy who returned fire from the drivers seat thru his passengers window...which was rolled up. Dang right we razzed the hell out of him....it is just the nature of the beast. You must know having someone trying to kill you is a traumatic experience but you gotta use some sense.
