As time marches on, future generation will not remember how it was in America when people could not have access to healthcare.
Beware of those that want to withhold medical care.
It may not be a right but it is the right thing to do.
All of the dissenters can have comfort knowing their children and grandchildren will enjoy a better world in America.

America is doomed.
Neighbor kid has been handed everything is entire life. Went to college for 5 years, quite the partier.
He graduated a couple years ago. Couple odd jobs to pay for partying. He spends majority of his time hiking rafting camping etc.
He thinks that this is perfect. One less bill he will never face.
America is doomed.

This should work like a well oiled machine! We should demand that working folks pay MORE for providing healthcare for those who don't work. Why don't we just give up all our remaining freedom now? Turn over the utilities, food supply, and don't forget gov't approval of media. After all Gov't seems to make such excellent choices (but give the lawmakers exemptions of course, like free choice in healthcare). Our wonderful government couldn't keep the Mustang Ranch afloat after they seized it, how can it possibly run a healthcare system?
Stand by for the knock on the front door with a friendly "I'm from the gov't, I am here to help."
So much for free choice. It was nice while it lasted.

I am disgusted!
When I go to the dr I pay cash. I am self employed, never taken a handout from the government. I don't ask others to pay my medical expenses. I pay for myself and my family and now I'm taxed because the MAN knows whats best for me. I'm not rich, I just make it some months, others months are better. But isn't that the American way.
Liberals....ugh!

The bottom line here is that, per their job according to the Constitution, the Supreme Court has upheld this law as Constitutional. I pay taxes just like everyone else, income tax, property tax, Medicare tax, Social Security tax, sales tax, and hidden taxes. At least with this tax maybe I can see a doctor or go to the hospital if I need to without fear of bankruptcy and losing everything I have worked so hard for because I get cancer, have a heart attack, or have a stroke. Wake up out there, we are the only country that has such an archaic system that gives too much care to certain segments of society and no healthcare for millions of people. This law is not perfect, should be a single payer system, but it is a start.

Getting health care will be like going to the post office. What could be wrong with that?

I asked the hospital administrator why I was charged $476.00 for a small, plastic ankle brace with velcro strips. He said it's because so many folks can't/don't pay for their medical care and don't have insurance, thus they have to charge inflated prices to the paying/insured customers to stay afloat. Personal responsibility? Personal mandate was the brainchild of the republican party. All I heard then was "yeah . . . make the freeloaders pay their fair share!" Why the change of heart?
@imho, how can gov't possibly run a healthcare system? It's called Medicare--the program that all recipients are adamant about keeping.
How can any of you be against requiring insurance companies to accept folks with pre-existing conditions or eliminating $1M lifetime caps for seriously ill patients?

Working mom, they did nothing to save your kids health care.....they just made sure it will now be too expensive for them to own and when they cancel they will be taxed even more.

The Republican'ts in their narrow minded self interest, treated the Affordable Health Care act with insolence and disdain and in an attempt to discredit it, named it "Obama Care." Little did they know that they have secured a place in history for Obama. In the future we will talk about Obama Care like we do Medicare and Social Security as one of those things that we are grateful for. And Obama's name will be respected and referenced as a place in history where the United States realized that people are what has made us great and not corporate self-interests.

The days of over priced and discrimatory healthcare options have been addressed. The uninsured working class will hopefully benefit from these changes along with those individuals with preexisting conditions.

Mountainman - Yeah, he said it...but it's the only way that SCOTUS would pass ObamaCare...they had to classify it as a tax.

DoubleD - the new health "tax" only applies if you aren't buying health insurance already, which I sincerely hope you are. Our emergency rooms are overloaded with people who don't have health insurance, because they either can't get access to it, or think it is their democratic "right" to choose not to buy it. This just forces up the cost for the rest of us. Not having access to health insurance is one thing, but refusing to buy it and then expecting other people to pay for your treatment is a different thing altogether. I hope you are not in the latter group.

imho - there is no such thing as "free choice" in health care, apart from the choice as to whether to pay for it or not. If you work for an employer, you get to take their heath plan or nothing at all. If you want to buy an individual plan, you are usually confronted with a small number of almost identical plans, carefully crafted by the insurance carriers. If you don't buy insurance, you are at the mercy of the local emergency department. And as far as treatment goes, when you are lying there on the gurney in emergency, do you think you are going to be offered a choice of doctors to examine you, or a choice of treatments? "Free choice" in healthcare is one of these political straw men that has been set up to preserve the system as it currently is. It doesn't exist, believe me.

Since when is it constitutional to allow government to force people who can't afford health insurance, to buy it or pay a huge "tax" (not a fee which would be unconstitutional)? I can't wait until the government decides that exercise is good for you so if you don't have a gym membership you'll have to pay a tax. Or maybe they'll tax you if you don't buy solar energy or an electric car. I know I can't afford any of those things even though they are good for the environment. How about if you don't vote democratic? Can't wait. BTW, this doesn't do anything to protect health care. If anything it will cause people to lose benefits when employers realize it's cheaper to pay the fine instead of the premiums. Who knew the change Obama promised was the destruction of the Constitution? Shameful.

I have watched the Gov. force my employer to pay less into my insurance each check,my deductible go from 0 to nearly $7,000 in just five years.....now they are telling me its going up again.....and Obama's plan has already restricted how I can spend my money in my HSA,.........no band_Aids or other medical items....prescriptions only? Why?What business is it of theirs? My employer has already stated that they are going to have to lay off because of the costs.......thats AWESOME!!!

A system that takes from one group to give to another....
Sound familiar?
Somehow I don't think the founding fathers envisaged this nightmare.
