The dairy cow was at a rendering facility as well which demonstrates just how well and deeply the CDC program runs. A big part of the problem in Europe was that cattle like this, after their usefulness, were rendered into feed products and fed back to beef and dairy cattle, thus reintroducing the disease. Thankfully for us, this is not U.S. dairy or beef practice.

This is what happens when you feed corn to animals that are not designed to eat corn. Oh and beef eating beef is one of the top causes of mad cow...

4AProactiveSonora you are right on target, do not feed animals to animals, it is directly related to cannibalism and brain, spinal products. That said what are you doing to find out where your meal came from?
Bookldy209 the same rendering plant operations for recycling poultry and beef products into feed products are in practice in Modesto at the Crows Landing Rendering Plant.

Feeding corn to cows raises the acidity of their stomachs...it DOES NOT give a cow mad cow disease.

Some of the unwholesome products that can be found in farm animal feed are meat from animals of other or the same species, meat from diseased animals, bits of feathers, hair, skin, hooves, blood, manure and other animal waste, plastics, antibiotics and unhealthy amounts of grain...On a factory beef or dairy farm, the main staples of a cow’s diet are corn and soy, which cows don’t digest well. In fact, because their digestive systems are not designed for grain, cattle can develop severe health problems, including liver abscesses and sudden death syndrome. For filler, factory farms will also add animal by-products to industrial cattle feed, and these additions can transmit diseases like mad cow to both animals and humans.
