Sonora, CA -- It has been a rainy and snowy morning across the Mother Lode.

A Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service went into effect at 2am and snow began falling at around 2,000 ft.

Motorists should allow extra time when traveling to destinations this morning.

"Be reminded that there is ice and snow on the ground, so reduce your speed and keep a further following distance," says CHP Officer Steve Machado. "Drive slow and be careful."

PG&E crews are still working to restore minor power outages in Jamestown and Hathaway Pines.

The N.W.S. Winter Weather Advisory for the Mother Lode expires at 10am.

Numerous schools are starting late this morning. Click on "School Delays" on the upper right corner of the Mymotherlode.com home page for the latest information.
