Federal Declaration Helps Calaveras County
San Andreas, CA -- It appears Calaveras County will be partially reimbursed from the federal government for the money used to clean-up a series of winter storms in late January and early February.
President Obama has signed a disaster declaration, at the request of Governor Schwarzenegger. Other counties in the declaration are Los Angeles, Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino and Siskiyou.
Funds from FEMA, after a disaster declaration, are provided on a cost-share basis. FEMA typically covers 75 percent of eligible costs, the state of California usually covers 75 percent of the non-federal share, and local government agencies cover the remainder.
