White Pines, CA - Federal funding is on the way to Calaveras County to restore a historic locomotive.

$116,000 from the Federal Transportation Enhancement Program will be used to restore the Yosemite Lumber #4 Shay Locomotive being housed at the Sierra Logging Museum in White Pines.

The train operated in the Mother Lode during the 1920's to transport lumber.

A request for funding was placed by the Calaveras Council of Governments, and the announcement was made by Caltrans Thursday afternoon.
