Sacramento, CA -- Senator Jeff Denham has introduced legislation designed to help U.S. Veterans find jobs.

SB 1056 would give private sector businesses a tax credit for hiring Veterans. If the Veteran hired is retained for at least 120 hours, a 25 percent tax credit would be available on first year wages up to $6,000.

Denham has also authored SB 1057 which would require the legislature and all state agencies to recognize Veteran's Day on November 11th. Often times the holiday is moved to the nearest Monday.

Denham states, "We need to honor the brave men and women who served this country in the military on Veterans Day proper, not use this important observance day as an excuse for a three day weekend for legislative employees."
